Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will make Swansea left back Ben Davies his first signing after getting the green light to talk to him. Spurs have agreed a fee worth up to £8 million the Welsh club for Davies, who is heading for London to agree terms. Davies seems sure to make the White Hart Lane switch and the chance to fill the boots once worn by his fellow Welshman Gareth Bale. Pochettino’s move is bad news for Danny Rose, but young Davies is a better defender and the Argentinian admires those qualities. Davies, 21, has already played 71 senior games for the Swans and is the first choice for Wales at left back. Swansea boss Garry Monk has already started a search for a replacement and would get all of the money to use.
8m is just insulting and I hope Huw has put in a massive sell-on clause in there if the number quoted is accurate
I think an honest assessment, its the big clubs paying over the odds for players which make it insulting
Then Jenkins should make sure that WE get paid over the odds. That's his job and IF the figure quoted is correct then he has been comprehensively outmanoeuvred by Levy. Let's see what transpires, there might be more to this than meets the eye.
i am getting worried that we will get ridden over here by Spurs and it is whether Hj has big enough bollox to stand up to levy. I have just read a piece that reckons Spurs will take Davies, Vorm and Bony and we will get Siggy plus 18M. So we get a player they dont want (siggy) who will cost more than one of our future stars. Am i getting something wrong here or are Spurs having us over.
I don't think anyone can seriously say we should be selling for as little as £8m. I would start talking at £15m with his potential, or £10m and Gylfi if its true that Michu is off. I reckon that piece is bollocks tbh, sounds like a completely unrealistic deal.
Read it too... not really interested in getting Sig ...8 million for Davies should stand on its own and we should not get caught up in a smoke and mirror multiple bid..Bony is worth at least 22 , Davies 8 , Vorm 6..Thats 36 and Sig is worth 8 imo .Sig and 28 million is more in line with true value .
But Isnt anyone a little worried that HJ will fold and we again will end up losing important players for peanuts.
The 4 player deal wont happen, if it does then Jenkins will have truly lost the plot at the club .Every deal must stand on its own , individually. Wouldnt worry to much lefty .
If you look at the players being linked with transfers away this summer.... Michael Vorm Ash Williams Ben Davies Michu Wilfried Bony .....they're all key players. For this reason I can't imagine for one second that we'd let them all leave in 1 summer. We don't need to. It would be suicide. Usually if mid table teams sell their key players to top 6 clubs the top clubs have to pay through the nose... e.g. Lallana £25m, Shaw £31m, Henderson £16m, Downing £20m, Mignolet £9m, Dembele £15m, Fellaini £27.5m, Zaha £15m, Phil Jones £16.5m, Young £17m, Rodwell £12m, Milner £26m, etc. Why should we be any different? Davies IMO is worth at least as much as Joe Allen. Davies has had 2 decent seasons in the prem to Allen's 1. Davies is a British left footed full-back who can cut it at the top level. There aren't many around, he should command a premium. Davies has scored more goals than Allen. Davies has European experience. Davies is younger than Alen was. The idea that Spurs take 3 of our key players and solve their 3 problem positions in return for Siggy (who Spurs have benched for 2 years) and approx. £20m is preposterous too me. Other clubs would be fetching near £20m for Ben Davies alone. Will be a shock if it happens.
Agreed Southampton have lost 2 important players 50m. So good money to go and replace. It appears we are under valuing ours. they are still only talking 18 for Bony, 8 for Ben. It just seems that teams think they can walk over us when it comes to money and I just wonder whether HJ is doing enough to ensure we get top dollar for our stars.
No ones saying that , but his value is greater than £8,000,000 in todays market , the market rate for British left back with youth and PL experience going to a bigger club is more than whats been quoted in the daily rags .
Less than 2 seasons ago Davies was on 400 £ a week I think ...8 million is more than enough imo... SOLD !!
Dont worry about anything the club knows what it's doing just like they have done for a number of seasons.....Everything is talk and speculation that nobody other than the club will know about. If a player leaves then the deal will be acceptable for us and not the buying club. Nobody has been sold yet and these speculations have been in the media for a few weeks and as far as i can see we have only recruited players so far.
