EDIT: sincerely doubt Lallana meant any disrespect... We have no idea what he's been texting or saying to his teammates, club officials and so on. He's bound to write a letter to the fans.

 

It takes at most 4 minutes to type up a message thanking the fans and the club etc, etc. The fact that this guy doesnt have the the time to write a message for the team that brought him to the EPL is absolutely astounding. I'm actually at a loss because even some of the worst footballers in history (personality wise) have managed to show a basic level of decency towards past clubs.

He MAY come out with a letter of thanks but until he he does he goes down as the most greedy, childish, petulant, egocentric, spoiled, corrupted and massively overestimated player in recent club history

 

Has anyone considered that maybe the club has changed (Cortese, Poch gone etc) and this has made Lallana want to leave feeling lied to? He could have left long ago but was made promises of the 5 year plan and all the things we were looking to achieve.

Once I had a gf (honest!) and we said we'd love each other forever. I certainly meant it. But after a few years it turned out she'd changed and was lying to me, was only after my money. Was I in the wrong to leave her or feel bitter at the way I'd been treated? Maybe, but then having her friends hate ME was a bit rich.

 

You can sincerely doubt all you like. How closely have you followed this saga from a local southern perspective? You have a great player, but unfortunately his actions and attitude over the last few months have soured our view. Just accept that and leave us be (I can say that without being rude ) 12 months ago he wanted to retire here as he signed his 5 year deal, 6 months ago he did a home video telling us everything was great (see other thread) and now, he has behaved like a petulant, spoiled kid with zero consideration for the fans. He has been ungraceful and lacked class. No letter of thanks now will matter. He has weeks to say something but he couldn't be arsed.

You'll enjoy him, because he is quality and like Lambert, you won't realize just how good until they are playing.

Even if true that would not change AL from acknowledging the club that (in essence) made him a star. This guy was league 1 when we found him and he rose with the club and now he cant think of a single sentence to thank saints for that rise?

Let's think about this. January - Cortese leaves; March (guess) players start to realize that MP is going.... new Board in place 5 minutes. How many of them waited to see what was going to happen, or did they just listen to the views of NC/MP.

I'm sorry, it seems I've missed so much but haven't actually seen any real evidence of Lallana being a total cock. All I've seen are people posting opinions, insulting him and feeding off one another. Please I request again, could someone please post a thread showing what he has done *wrong* clearly without all the insults so I can make up my own mind.

The long post of his interview from LFC didn't seem anything bad to me, but then I'm not reading it with my angry glasses on. Which footballer does go on about how great his old club was in his first interview with his new club?

 

I've checked on here periodically - I'm trying to get your perspective now! Not in a voyeuristic way - I think opposition fans are the best part of these forums.

With these things I veer on the side of realism - the clubs and players just trot out what their new fans want. It hurts and/or annoys - and we've felt it with Torres and now Suarez - but it's just an unfortunate part of the dance.

He'll be joking with the Southampton players on the opening day... Hopefully he'll say something for the fans too.

 

I'm not convinced it was about ambition, though I'm sure that the chance to play in CL was part of it. At his age and with the season he had just had, it was the perfect opportunity to leave for pastures new, more money and, let's face it, a bigger club. Sadly, the way he has approached the transfer is pretty shameful, though he is a footballer and they tend not to be the brightest. Maybe some better advisors would be a wise move that ensure that he is a bit more upfront with his views

The main problem is being a badge kisser, promising loyalty forever, whilst angling for a move behind every ones back, then bad mouthing the club via Blackmore. The rest I suppose is fans (and I'm guilty as well) feeding off each other. Shaw and Lambert gave everything for us, but didn't lead us to believe we were the be all and end all to them....SRL did say he hoped to finish his career here, but then he couldn't reasonably have expected to end up playing for England and his boyhood club. (and anyway he's Rickie...everyone loves Rickie).
