Libellous? Is there a moderator in the house? What about Woan joining us despite having recently signed a contract at Pompey and being part of their plans?
I know nothing about Woan - I am sure there are many players and many managers who you could look at and decide whether you thought they had honour and dignity or not - but Woan does not even register on my scales - was he a manager needed to help keep us in the Championship or just some oik of a player? Do we need to go through a hundred players and managers who have moved clubs to see that what MM did was dishonourable - no - as honour is not "relative" but absolute" He knew Watford wanted him to stay but chose to go - simple as that - he should not have misled us in March Libel is not libel if it contains a doubt - "probably" as it is not stated as a fact but opinion ( I know my libel law ) Lastly - no - MM is probably in the majority there and I don't blame him - nor would I be surprised if he comes for Cowie - nor that he took Conway to Cardiff - but none of this indicates he gives a stuff about us now - so I feel mutually against him. Hope he is sacked by Christmas.
It's libellous if they are implied to be facts. I know my libel law too. Woan question ducked. Did he mislead Pompey?
I dont think so atr! the reports are that Watford went through proper channels to talk to woan ,pompey gave him permission to talk to us, thus no wrong doing by any party imo
Woan probably was expecting to stay on at Pompey coz at the time he signed his contract, his best mate wasn't Manager at Watford, MM was, and there was no reason to suppose that would change.
So what do you think was "implied to be facts" Fact Watford refused permission. Fact He overrode that by saying he wanted to. Speculation and opinion PROBABLY he or his agent .... My daughter is a lawyer with London's leading litigation lawyers and she vets and approves every post i make on here so I'm safe I know nothing about Woan so cannot comment. Enlighten me
All I can find is this - it says nothing about when he last signed a contract but implies it has all been done correctly and noone is concerned so how does this compare? He was not even the number one so is not in the important position that Malky held. Assistants are expected to move on. Plus for what it is worth he has a connexion through Friendship so is not even jumping ship purely for money. Nobody is claiming that football should have no transfers that are not at the end of a contract. HOwever if you can show that he was recently offered and accepted a new contract at Portsmouth because they were concerned he would move on and he signed it and is now breaking it I would have to say he has no honour. Are you claiming that and do you have evidence for it?
Looking at Portsmouth's website it seems he was recently given a new contract. However it was stated that this was a reward for past services and at the same time he was having to share the number 2 spot with Whittingham who also got a new contract. Therefore it seems that Portsmouth are quite happy to resolve their number 2 position by letting him go. So again - no I do not think he has been dishonourable - the club seem to be supporting his move - Watford were against MM going. If on the other hand Portsmouth say to him they do not want him to talk to us or leave then again I would criticise him. It is about being fair on both sides MM was not Woan and Portsmouth seem to be.
Tell me you can see the difference between someone who leaves with their club's blessing and someone who leaves without it - and in fact in defiance of it
You claim people are dishonourable for not completing contracts. Pompey signed a contract with Woan. I'm not implying that SD had sounded out Woan you notice.
I have never stated that I think people are dishonourable for not completing contracts If you read what I have written - and I have written a lot about this you will see that it is not simply about whether someone does not complete contracts. It is far more complex than that. It is about how they end their contract. There is an honourable way and a dishonourable way. MM could not have been more dishonourable
Thanks Norway - had seen that but I thought ATR had info on when the contract was last signed at Portmouth and if he was a "key player" they were trtying to prevent leaving. It turns out that he signed it last season and he was not even the number 2 there but was sharing it with another as the manager did not want to disappoint either. So they seem pretty pleased to let him go with their good grace. ATR and a few others do not seem able to understand the complexities and think that every player or manager who does not complete a contract is open to criticism when in fact it is not like that at all. Tell me have you ever signed a contract because your employer needed you and were prepared to try to tie you in and then less than 3 months later walked away from it knowing how much you were harming your employer? That is what it is about not the contract itself but honour and dare I say it INTEGRITY. MM has clearly got neither
I agree Hornette. Did Malky think that he was going to have Bassini as his boss when he signed? No. He signed his contract a week before Bassini announced his intention to buy. And the difference with Woan is...?
I think you have taken a high-handed and quite aggressive tone on this thread Leonardo. Poor you if you think that only you are capable of understanding something complex. Yet again you have resorted to getting personal. I have no wish to continue debating with you whilst you adopt this attitude.
Bassini was involved in the purchase since last Christmas and he finally sealed the deal two weeks after MM signed - it is almost impossible to believe that Bassini was not involved in the contract offered to MM and vice versa - I have been involved in many many takeover deals and the old company will always look to the new buyer before committing to such a contract as otherwise they could blow the deal if the new people were not in agreement
