Late drama that a game like that deserved, great spectacle. Algeria is a really good side who got max out of their potential and with some luck could have pulled a major shock off. In the end though a much deserved win for Germany, despite all the heart shown by Algeria. They will be national heroes from here on.

They will, and they will beat France. Zee Germans always play better when the opposition is better. This is perfect, people talking Germany down, best possible scenario from a German point of view.

BBC: "Bayern should play Manuel Neuer in midfield one day. I reckon he's good enough."

It is a long standing love in for Bayern Munchen. But the national mannschaft didn't happen until they hit rock bottom during the Euro 2000, and when they in the subsequent World Cup in 2002 got to the final thanks to Oliver Kahn and pure willpower. Before that I actually pretty much hated them, dating back to them eliminating England in Italy '90.

That can only be a good thing imo. Nothing better than getting a proper wake up call without being eliminated. Hopefully it will help them but France will be very tough. And I'm not a fan of this playing without a forward, a so called false 9. But they only have Klose and he's not 100% fit so can't start. Surprised he didn't come on today though. Think Schürrle was crap apart from his goal tonight.
What made the biggest difference for Germany tonight was the injury to Mustafi. Bringing on Khedira and moving Lahm to right back changed the dynamics of the game and Germany really pushed on from the 70th minute, and there really was only one winner from there on in.

Well done to Germany, who once again show an ability to win matches that England would probably not have done. They always manage to dig deep, whereas we roll over.

I would probably say well done to algeria. They were total underdogs and yet they forced germans to the overtime and probably scared them quite well too. My mate who was watching the match with me was very nervous and he is one of the biggest german fans in finland. Atleast Germans will have to improve a lot against France and i believe that they wont enough.

I got in from work very late and saw the last 5 minutes, and 2 of the 3 goals! Clearly based on this I am wellll qualified to say Algeria were at least as good as Germany, the German Keeper was a cheat - he tried not to give the ball back when Algeria scored, and Germany haven't a chance of hell in winning the WC on technical abilty, but will probably bore themselves and everyone else to it as usual.

Which planet have you been on for the past eight years mate? Since the world cup at home in 2006 Germany have been playing some of the best and most attacking football in the world.

Jesp /Yawn. Smak og behag /Matter of taste mate. I don't watch Germany much, because whever I do they still look like a machine, if a well oiled one. I enjoy watching the Latin American teams, at this tournament anyway. For me they play the glittering attacking football I like, with players willing to and capable of going past defenders themselves and scoring, and pass clinically and inventively. Mexico were perhaps my favourites - great going forward..

This excactly. There is nothing exciting in a team if they very rarely make hazards or fail. For example that Neuer who time after time runned out from his area and cleared the ball. He is nothing like Rene Higuita the great colombian goalkeeper from the ninentees...He was exciting to watch because he sometimes made few errors and then it was exciting to watch if he could sort them...Neuer rarely does any errors and its so yawn.....mind you yesterdy in that first situation he was very near of red card. Then if it would have happened (and even if germany still would have won it) i might have called Germany as a exciting team....But after all it is matter of opinion "Some like daughter and german fans prefer "old grandma"....;)
