Can't believe people are being so hard on him. If you've been blessed with a pair of gnashers that big, you're going to bite anything and everything.
Interesting to hear the very polarised responses from Liverpool supporters....... pro and con him staying....
Sickening to see the Uruguayan supporters "welcome" to the returning Suarez and their assertion that they have in some way been "robbed" of him in the World Cup. Have none of them watched the clip clearly showing him biting the Italian guy? Almost as sickening as Liverpool's intention to sue FIFA - how the mighty are fallen - their whole handling of the Suarez incidents has been nauseating in the extreme. Just supposing it had been Rooney or Gerrard sent home and banned for biting - they would have been panned by our media - instead the Uruguayan FA & media holds him up as some kind of hero. Great footballer - terrible human being. Real Madrid or Barcelona are quite welcome to him. Difficult to escape the conclusion that Uruguay, as well as most other Latin American countries, is, in Danny De Vito's memorable words, a third world toilet.
Sorry Vic but you can't just group a whole continent of people under one umbrella in this way. To make claims like this over Latin America based on this one incident is like saying that all Europeans are evil because of eg. ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. Suarez has gone beyond the limits of tolerable behaviour and has been punished for it. But does he deserve to be pictorially displayed on the front page of most of the World's newspapers together with the use of rhetoric such as 'cannibal' or vampire - or any of the other vile captions which I have seen. Together with his punishment he has been vilified by the World press in a manner similar to the spirit of public executions in the past - not because he assaulted a player on the pitch but because of the manner of it. Had he hit a player with his fist, or head butted him or taken him out with a bone breaking tackle (all of which could have caused more permanent damage) then he would still have been punished but not quite in this way - society could still have related to him 'as a man'.
Agreed.... let's face it the guy is "ill"...... but of course the big old british media love these stories.... another example of putting the boot in on the successful..... plus of course he is ...erm.... foreign. I have also heard on the media... .that Uruguay is one of the more sedate s. American countries......
I haven't been there but have met a fair number of Uruguayans through work. Of all the Latin American delegations i came into contact with they were definitely the most anglo friendly and actually held the UK in very high regard. I think what irks me about Suarez is the complete lack of remorse for all his actions - but I won't be very objective when it comes to any footballer with a Liverpool FC connection..
I rest my case: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28058345 and http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28069689 Perhaps I was a little over the top in my reaction and I apologise to all anglophile Latin Americans (however many are left), but it really irks me, all this "Suarez can do no wrong - he's the victim of the English Media" nonsense.
iam not sure there are that many who believe that.... i have heard that a good many people in uruguay think he has done wrong.... question is how you value what price he pays punishment wise.... we also have a sensationalist media, in parts, who love to make money out of this sort of thing
Suarez obviously needs medical help. But like most people I don't buy into this"these things happen in football" nonsense. Nor can I find anything remotely acceptable about his welcome home. Ditto Liverpool bleating on about losing their star player. The bite is incontrovertible; the punishment is apt but by far the worst things are Saurez and others inability to accept that he's done anything wrong. That is madness.

Ironic eh....
http://www.amnesty.org.uk/blogs/pre...-action-suarez-inaction-qatar-fifa-toothless? Action on Suarez..... Inaction on Qatar? ..mmmm.....
I think the ban was about right personally. No place for biting on a football field, but there wasn't much in it. I expect the bite mark had disappeared a few minutes later.
What a half-arsed apology. You can tell he doesn't really mean it and suspect he was forced to make it either from sponsors, or his agent to try and get his Barca move.
