Went to Anfield a couple of seasons ago on ther Tuesday night game. Really excited for it as I'd never been before and heard stories of the "Anfield Roar" - there was a bigger roar at my boys weekend football game when he scored his third at the weekend! Quiet - no atmosphere and not exactly a "pretty" football stadium - regardless of what Liverpool fans may say
Let's not fall into the fletch trap, although I still rate Steve I don't believe he was worth 14 mill after scoring 12 goals in 11/12 borini 10 goals for us at 12 mill? No thanks..
Aye front the left, Fletch played up top, incomparable for me like. Borini played up top twice that I can remember and he scored in both. I think he would have got more time up top if it wasn't for the fact that Giacc was adapting slowly and Mavrias was miles away, we had nobody to slot in on the left.
Not enough players or quality to fill in positions? A slight prob for our club of late but on the mend, fair point stat man just don't think borini is worth that much in my opinion but love the bloke's passion for the shirt!
We had the players but not the quality, Giacc had a slow start but should be much better, his class is there to see. I think Borini will get better and better. Only 23, first full prem season and played out of position. Think we'll end up getting most of our money if not all of it back and a great players for a few years.
Was a good lesson last season mate, we brought quality & dev players.. The quality struggled under pdc (so did every ffs lol)and the dev players were put into the reserves.. Still can't figure out how giach played so little up until the end of season when he really did shine.. This will be fletch's season IMO, first season was awesome. Last season injured can't really be too critical cause he was playing on one leg..
Jury is out on fletch for me like, Want him to play Poyet's style while fully fit to make my mind up. The way we play is so different compared to how we played in his first season
The way fletch played in his first season was so different to last season.. He wasn't on one leg. He has my full support mate!
Oh he'll always my full support like. I know his first season was decent but what I mean is we play completely different now, I try not to judge on last season because of his injury which is why I need to see him play fit this season before i form a full opinion. He's never played in a team who play our style in his entire career so none of us know for sure weather he can or not. If he can't nail it he'll need to go quickly because he's not going improve or adapt easy at his age. 27 is quite late in his career to dramatically change his style of play. We've a few players who are good players but no point keeping them if they can't play our system naturally, we'd better off bringing in players who can. When a club evolves good players have to go too if they don't fit in with the managers vision. Good finisher, hope he can adapt.
Good points funk, I like that he's come back early into pre season training to build up the strength in his ankle.. That shows the desire & commitment in the lad.. At present I like Wickham up top & maybe fletch can be an impact sub? All guessing games here but refreshing none the least!
Wickham is strong powerful and young enough to mould him how we want. I think Poyet could turn him into a great player.
Wickhams last year on contract? If so needs to be addressed quickly. I'd be pissed if he moved on next season.. My fav goals of his were against man citeh last season! Class act!
