Probably. It looks an amazing line up though I think Oscar is better centrally. Would rather we go for Kroos though given the money involved in each deal.
Do we really need any more midfielders, attacking, winging or defensive or otherwise? We have Matic, Ramires, Mikel, Van Ginkel, Fabregas, Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle, Willian.....enough with the midfielders already!! Pogba or Kroos, whilst good signings, would be a waste in my view unless we offload a couple of players. We need a new back up LB, and maybe a backup CB now and then we are golden. (Zouma is coming now though right?) Cole, Lamps and Eto'o are gone, so thats a lot of wages freed up. Get Lukaku and Courtois back and we are good to rock I think.
We probably need around 10 midfielders/attacking/wide mids, i,e 2 for each place in a 433 or 4231. In addition to the 9 listed we have Salah and some loaness like Moses who probably wont return. So yes in theory we now have enough. However if you could get Kroos for 15-20 million and sold say Mikel (who has been rumoured to be leaving) for around 15, that would be business worth doing IMO. I'm sure steps are also in place to try and get a L.B.
We're actually in profit in terms of transfers so I wouldn't put it past us - especially considering one of Mikel/Ramires would have to leave if Pogba came in. £60m is too much though.
I think it would have to be a really special player for us to spend that kind of money though. Pogba looks very good and is a real prospect but 60 million is more than Kaka cost when he was a world player of the year winner and top 3 in the world at the time. Is he worth 3 Matic's?!?!
It would, like Torres . Seriously though, I think he'll be the best midfielder in the world in a few years. Matic isn't the same player as Pogba, he doesn't change games in the same way.
Personally I think he'd jump at the chance to come to us. Obviously pissed at United not giving him a chance and what better way than to come back to the P.L to show them what they gave up?! In truth I haven't seen that much of him but the money touted seems crazy - much like 50 million for Luiz!!
I read an article somewhere and it had a photo of him playing football manager as Chelsea - with him in centre midfield. It's a mighty straw to clutch at but that's what this time of year does
If we could get Pogba especially, or Kroos to a slightly lesser extent, then we would be getting close to exactly what we've been missing the last 3 or 4 years. Would then be happy to lose Ramires or Mikel and one of Schurrle, Willian or Salah ? is it.
I think Kroos or Pogba (either would be great signings) would be used centrall so don't think it would impact on Schurrle, Salah or Willian who are more wide forwards. Could see Ramires or Mikel going in such circumstances though that could potentially leave us a bit short in terms of Matic cover.
schurrles definitely got it in him but not sure about salah. I'm fairly certain Jose bought him just to piss the scousers off lol, then again he's only young so time shall tell
Yeah Schurrle looks very good, certainly always does a job when called on despite not being first choice. Salah I think was perhaps bought in to cover the departing Mata and De Bruyne for the remainder of the season. Not sure he's a long term answer. I imagine he'll be used as an impact sub most of the time and in lower key games.
I am not convinced Pogba wouldn't just give us a surplus of midfield talent. A great signing no doubt, but surely Oscar would suffer? Personally I think we should be looking at a: Fabregas - Matic - Oscar But subbing in Pogba surely means that Oscar gets out the team? I don't know. Seems very impractical to me. That said, as always, I am in favour of any signing that wins us the league. That said, signing Pogba could allow this Hazard - Fabregas - Oscar Matic - Pogba Whatever happens it appears players like Willian and Schurrle suffer, but I don't see any substance in the Pogba rumour. Also think about MVG and Chalobah etc. Unless Pogba counts as home grown, I can't see us moving for him.
I agree, especially at the reported 60 million. Looks bollox anyway. I think you'd have to make room for Kroos somehow though if you could get him at 15-20 million. It is a squad game after all
