My mum recently had a fall ( ended up with a face like it's been hit with a shovel - lots of sympathy etc.

I have visited her this week - and as usual did a lot of gardening for her - including cutting the hedge in the rear garden. Mum said that she wouldn't help to pick up the cuttings and was going indoors to sit down. My response was " Good."

I switched on the cutter and was busy doing the job. I had been standing on a small stool to reach the top of the hedge - and needed to move along. So I stepped down ( backwards ) - and nearly went flying. My mother had decided to creep up behind me, bend down and start to pick the cuttings. As I stepped down, I also flattened my mother. After I got over the initial shock of the situation - and made sure my mum was going to be alright - I couldn't help but to be a little annoyed with her.

Later in the afternoon of the same day - my mother was getting rid of some old plastic carrier bags and placing them in the recycling bin. She had plastic bags in BOTH hands. I also was rounding up some plastic bags in her home. As I approached the recycling bin my mother said " Don't put them in the plastics bin - they go in the paper bin." I said " But these are plastic bags." Mum said " No they're paper." I said " Mum, these are plastic carrier bags." Mum said " No, they're paper." I said to mum " What are you holding in your hands? " She replied " Plastic carrier bags." I said " Now take a look at what is in my hand - what do you see?" She replied " plastic bags." I replied " But you've been saying that they are paper bags." Mum said " No - they're plastic bags." ( end of conversation )

I also took my mum shopping. Whilst in the bakery section she said she wanted a cake. There were many on display, so I asked her what she would like so that I could help to find it. She outstretched her hands, put her palms facing each other - about 6 inches apart and said " One like this." !!!!!!

When I returned home I got a phone call from my brother - He was at my mum's house. She was demanding that he take her to the bank - because they had short-changed her by £ 80 when she had drawn some money on me taking her earlier in the day. When questioned by my brother, mum was adamant that she had NOT paid any bills. My brother then asked me if I could shed any light on the matter. I said to him " The £ 80 will be the money she used to pay the council tax whilst she was at the bank."...... I could hear my brother swearing rather a lot at my mum. I couldn't help but giggle - that my brother shared my pain ---- it's as well that he doesn't have to share the pain of my neighbour.

Honestly - I don't live in Happy Valley ( not seen the program ) - but I could easily fit in.

Sweet F A and all that jazz

Too few people receiving so much money - handed to them 'on a plate' by those with the power to offer large amounts of cash to fund a comfortable life style - as long as those 'lucky' few continue to elect the men with the money. The lure of the £££ will continue to prove too difficult to agree to changes to a system that is basically corrupt - the small group of people that is 'cashing in' seemingly have no financial problems about which to worry - whilst the rest of the 'players' are squeezed even tighter. The system MUST change otherwise the rest of us will suffer by having to pay more and more to give to the 'elite' few.

I bet you think that I'm talking about football -

Well I could easily be referring to recent discussions about the disparity of money in football - but I was thinking about the ridiculous benefit system in this country - which encourages so few people to do nothing for too much money - but you could just as easily apply the principle in football and the whole set up of the Premier League.

Until the system changes the rest of football will suffer - but what Political party is going to vote for a major reduction in benefits for those people who will vote their party into Westminster every few years ?

Before you give an answer - think about why Gills fans 'hate' Swindon or cheer at Millwall losing !

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-27939845

I don't think this guy's done anything wrong. England were beaten by two teams who both lost to the 'no-hopers' of their group. Get over it !

Woke up today to find a new addition in MY garden -

a wooden flower pot (with flowers & compost )

I presume that it was left by my neighbour - I will never understand the working of the female mind.

Absolutely shocking state of affairs. And it's not the first time something like this has happened. Just where can you go quietly conducting your business without being the victim of a mad person ? I genuinely fear what might happen next.

No - I'm not talking about the Suarez 'incident' - I've been burgled in the night !

OK - it's not exactly the crime of the century - I looked out of my bedroom window to discover that I am no longer the keeper of a shiny new flower pot - in the night it has found it's way into the garden of my neighbour
(obviously it was a gift from an 'Indian giver' )

.......Punishment for Suarez should reflect the nature of the crime - how about removing all his teeth ?

So that you can all start the day full of joy and at peace in this beautiful world. The trouble is - I can't ! Yes the world is beautiful - it's a pity about some people who spoil it.

at least it wasn't Suarez. And if you want one of my jokes in slightly bad taste - I could ask where was tim on Tuesday morning ? OK - that might not be nice - but let's not forget what is truly disgusting as I read about the atrocities people can inflict on their fellow human being.

They are so ridiculous - that they have to be untrue - but we all know that they are real !

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-28035577

Doesn't it make you proud to be British ? Some of them could easily be murderers and rapists ( although their crimes are irrelevant ) - we know how to punish them !

What next - Suarez being offered dental treatment for the discomfort he felt after sinking his teeth into Chiellini ?

This country talks about the deprivation of 'human rights' of the inhabitants of some countries around the world - yet it 'treats' its' own criminals better than their victims.

For when the coach(es) break down or get vandalised - we could come to their rescue and offer them EACH alternative transport.

At least they'll be able to see where they're going - unlike this 'female' (English) motorist who featured in a newspaper a couple of days ago. Why was I not surprised when the story revealed that she had no insurance !

Had it been a man driving would you have added 'male' to your description of the motorist ?

    Minxy -
The answer is unknown - because you are talking of a hypothetical situation. I was replicating the facts in the newspaper report.
I am sure that you are not insensitive / paranoid sufficiently to be annoyed at the gender revelation - mere detail ! There have been many equally stupid motoring indiscretions committed by the male of the species - I just didn't see any reported on the day.

I note that you made no query regarding another fact that I included in my post - that the motorist was English. I can assure you that in revealing this detail, I am not being racist.
