Did they mention our anniversary on the Facebook page? A ten minute job at the most. A few previous badges, our current one and a comment to remind some supporters just what we achieved last season and to remind them what we have in store. Just a little thought, that's all it would have taken. Instead we see another thread linking (some) supporters to their football club broken.
I'm still waiting for the Al Ahly friendly game that the current owner promised us. Do you know when it it will be yet Hapless?
No, it's not much for me to think about, but it's obviously too much for Hull City to think about. We have Twitter and Facebook pages, if anyone at Hull City knew it was our 110th birthday, then I'm sure they'd have bunged something up, but they didn't. Fortunately, the club follow Amber Nectar, so they'll probably do something on Monday. We're currently working on a pop-up museum, in the real world, to celebrate our 110th year. We've lined up some great stuff and we hope that many people will attend. It was originally going to be at the library in West Park, a place run by volunteers to celebrate Hull's history, but unfortunately, they won't allow us, in case some Egyptian despot gets the hump. Do you think Hull City fans would like to visit a place full of Hull City memorabilia? Do you think a place that exists to celebrate Hull's history should be afraid to stage such an event? Personally, I don't, I find it disgusting that a Hull heritage centre is afraid to celebrate Hull City's history.
Really? That's sad. I'd heard they tried to get some money out of the club in the Duffen era but despite being on the doorstep of the old ground and the new ground, it was no dice. A couple of grand would have made a massive difference. Shame they apparently live in fear and odd also, given the current owners' utter lack of interest in the club pre 2010.
Hey that sounds like a great idea! Strange use of CTWD funds mind but I guess you can do what you want with them. Has anyone actually contacted the club to ask about the library? Who turned it down at the club? What was the reason they gave? Any plans to have some City legends put in an appearance? In answer to your first question, personally, yeah, I would like that. I like history. Do I think the people of Hull would like it? Sure as an idea, but sadly I suspect most won't go, which is a massive shame. Your second question, my inner cynic kicked in, and I don't believe the owners, or the club has said fook all about it, and I suspect either someone is trying to stir ****e about this. An email or something from the club turning it down and I'd change my mind.
I didn't mention anything about the club saying anything at all. I said the volunteers at the Hull Civic Centre were afraid to allow us in, in case it upset the owners of Hull City. You'll have to ask them what they're afraid of. We'll find another venue and go ahead anyway. We don't have to worry about CTWD funds, the hire of the venue would have been peanuts and all the items on show were offered by our supporters free of charge.
