I think the reason he didn't go to Everton in the end was to do with injuries wasn't it? I would prefer someone else, but by no means would be disappointed if we did sign him. No one would be getting through a midfield of big Vic and Fer that's for sure!!
I just generally don't think he's that good a player. We need some properly ambitious signings to make up for the recent ****.
I can remember something like that. Or was it that he didn't actually fail but they were not happy about his injury record? I can remember thinking there was something odd about it at the time anyway - although one clubs medical staff can quite often have different ideas to another I guess. Either way, Norwich swooped and he ended up there!
Is Pelle not ambitious enough for you Joe?! I agree, some ambition shown in the signings we make would be nice. As for Pelle, I am actually interested in how he turns out (if he does indeed come), he is good eye candy for Fran, and as I have said before, I see him as Ron's housewarming gift so as long as he doesn't break the bank, which it looks like he won't, then I guess I'm ok with it.
OS, you are completely entitled to vent at the club, however just remember that you, me and most of us have no or little knowledge of the facts. Reading your post above, it is clear that you have interpreted things in one direction; they could also be interpreted in another. If a player's attitude stinks and causes problems, then the board are doing the right thing. None of us know what has really happened though. Me, I think NC and MP (probably more MP) have been in the players ears since January... this has then set their minds to go and the board have been sold right up the river.
Striker Centre back Left back - Maybe someone getting towards the end of their career from whom Targett can learn. Creative midfielder Goalkeeper - that Mexican goalie looks pretty good. Keep Fonte and Cork. Also, can we buy Lineker a frying-pan so that if that smug git Lawrenson chastises us for selling our talent Gary can twong him one.
GK, CB, LB, 2 strikers at a bare minimum. on top of that, I'd like to see 2 attacking midfielder who can play anywhere across the front positions and perhaps another centre back if Lovren does **** off too. I think we can cover DM with Wanyama, cork, JWP and possibly another graduate. Steven Davis can cover there too.
I hate mass acquisitions, but if we lose Lambert/Lallana/Shaw/Lovren/Schneiderlin, we absolutely need seven or eight high-quality inbound players. Combining what we needed prior with what we've lost, a GK, 2 CBs, 1 LB, 1 DM, 2 strikers, and 2 AMs would be the shopping list.
We need to replace 22 goals and 20+ assists from last season. That is the difference in the Premier League: the strikers and we need someone or some players brought in that can achieve this or we are going down.
Did I hear them correctly in the Holland game, saying that Moreno had interest from Liverpool and Hull? With the greatest of respect, if Hull are on the case there, should we not stick our oar in too?
It was Man U or Hull, which made me laugh but as ITV yesterday smugly said 'here comes Gaston Ramirez, possibly Southampton's only player next season, haha' I feel we shouldn't take note of this or encourage them.
Didn't Spuds buy a lot of players to replace one. They could have signed nobody when they sold Bale and still have a strong squad. We haven't lost one player it looks like we will loose the entire spin and more. We cannot afford to buy a few and rely on youth. Certainly not if it includes gazzaniga
