Sterling's only 19, he has more potential than Lallana who's had one great season. Sterling also has pace.

I didn't think he did. I thought that Neville and Carragher did it together, but Neville went for Lallana and Carra for Sterling. They put it to the viewers who chose Sterling... IIRC

Always silly when it's put to the viewers. The one with the more fans wins.

    Seriously?! Sterling better than Lallana?

And we wonder why the state of the England national team is so ****e.

So he can run straight into defenders even quicker. Cool.

Absolutely and I think Neville said something like that at the time. Based on last season, Lallana is better than Sterling.

Yes, last season he was. I'd speculate that the season when Adam was 19 wasn't as good as Sterling's this season though. I think we're being a little disrespectful to his potential by lording it!

Sterling is definitely better than Lallana was at 19 though.

It's not where you start, it's where you end up. Some players improve more as they get older...that's why it can be hard to judge how good youngsters will be. Adam has improved because of the hard work he put in to be truly two footed and by the experience he gained by playing in different leagues. Sterling is hugely talented, but he must put in the hours. Not specifically talking about Sterling, but some youngsters in top sides are good enough to just coast and never achieve their potential.

And what? You're suggesting that every player follows the same path of improvement regarding age-to-ability. It's not as simple as this. I remember a kid called Danny Cadamateri, an Everton teenager regarded to be the next Michael Owen. But he wasn't, he went ****. Quickly. And he is just one example. Some players peak in their teens, some in their early twenties, some in their late twenties, and some in their thirties (eg; Mr. Lambert). If Sterling loses his pace, he is a Championship player at best.

Not sure what your point is here Black. Nobody is denying that. All that's been said is that Lallana had a better season this season than Sterling. Sterling is better at 19 than Adam was.

Are you disagreeing with any of that, because that's all anybody is saying?

Of course, but that is almost irrelevant really. Someone said Sterling is better than Lallana. Based on today then (ignoring past), I'd say that Lallana is better. Both good though.

I'm just saying that it's arrogant of Saints fans to belittle Sterling and make out Lallana to be world class. Yes, Lallana had a better, more consistent season than Sterling last season, but Sterling's not far off and is 7 years younger. Sterling may not fulfill his potential, but there's a good chance he'll end up as a top PL player like Lallana was this season.

Have any saints fans belittled him? If so, I missed that.

Did they? If I missed that direct comparison, then apologies. I would disagree with that opinion, but in reality we only have this season to work on, as Sterling has only really emerged this year. Right now, this minute, who would I have in my team? Sterling or the two-faced, ****-bearded, much-changed, flea ridden, badge patting, empty worded, Cruyff turning, overpriced, ****-stirring, shirt signing, Clattenburg-hating TWAT?

Well, yeah, it would be Adam.

But that comparison will be very much more interesting as a direct one next year.

Black says he's a Championship player minus his pace and Imps thinks Lallana is comfortably better than Sterling.

Maybe it's not what is being said directly, but what is being implied.
