I think Fer is one of the best players to ever wear the yellow and green of Norwich and i will be gutted if we sell him in the closed season, will bigger clubs be less likely to try and poach him if he is injured with a hamstring injury ?. I sincerely hope so..
That's NOT good news - especially looking at how the Saints team of last season has been decimated and signed by the 'top teams'. Means they have lots of money to buy replacements. Mind you, can't really blame him if he does want to move and play in the PL, as I thought his first few games when he was playing with Tettey and Howson he was excellent.
Goodness knows if the championship would motivate him though, looked like he was running in reverse sometimes last year. His ability is undoubted but i really think he let us down last year. He did not influence enough games as he should. If there's money on the table for him which is reasonable i think we'd be able to get someone who will fight for championship promotion 5 times over.
Didn't think he was the game changer we were expecting, tbh I felt at times that he was just coasting along.
IMO, he was excellent in the first half of the season, but he did tend to drift a bit in the latter half. It also seemed to me that he was slow getting back into defence much of the time, but otherwise a talented player. If true, Southampton will probably have their way!
IMO, he was very good in the opening half dozen or so games, but as you say Rich, he seemed to be coasting after that/
Everyone knows Southampton are cash rich, so at least we should be able to get a fair whack from them for him.
I wonder if this will act in our favour then as prospective clubs might want to see what kind of attitude he has, whether his fitness is there, and then come a calling in January?
Hopefully, if it is Southampton who make a bid we can hold them to ransom a bit. McNally knows they have A LOT of money to spend (especially after the sales of Shaw and Lallana) and he has 2 or 3 years left on his contract so I reckon we could get at least £8m for him?! £16m for 2 of our players in one transfer window would be incredible business as long as we invest wisely! That should be enough to buy 4 or 5 very good Championship players. We shall see. Perhaps as China says, if he gets fit and does well first half of the season, he might go in Jan. In which case the price would be even more inflated!
Southampton have picked up over £50m for two players I'd want £10m or more. It's like spurs last year, everyone knew they had lots of money to spend and needed to bring players in so they paid over the odds for every player they bought.
According to the Star, City have now bid £10m for McCormack. That after already making a £5m bid for Deeney! Aren't the tabloids great!
People have misread the Deeney article, it said they turned down an offer earlier in the summer. As ive said else where, I reckon we moved onto Lafferty. I would not pay £10 mil for McCormack, that's just ridiculous. As for Fer, would want atleast £13-£15mil for him... That's how much James McCarthy went to Everton for so why not Fer. He has 3 years left on his contract and age on his side. Plus going by what we wanted for Snodgrass, then I would imagine not many sides would be prepared to pay what we would want for him. Im just hoping he stays.
