I don't mind, but it would probably be at the end of my list of priorities (striker, left back, centre back, attacking midfielder)

Blimey! And I thought I was a pessimist! Still, on the plus side, no-one will be poaching our players next summer!

In truth I am not normally so pessimistic.....but over the years there has been many ups and downs. I do not ever remember selling so many players at the end of a season.
My pessimism is based on how other sides have bought loads of players and struggled to survive.....QPR, West Ham, to name a couple that did that. Although West Ham did better the second half of the season agreed.
Maybe I am being a tad more Pessimistic than I should be....I just find it hard to trust Katrina's judgement and knowledge of running a football club!!

In all honesty Beddy, I too am normally pretty positive but I am feeling as bad as you. Assuming Lovren and Morgan go as well, our squad will be a hell of a lot weaker. I don't like the idea of relying on unknown players next season one little bit. The chemistry might not be there, players may not like it her, or get on etc. This is an opinion I would hav even if we had kept our coaching staff, management and captain/Rickie in place to steer the ship.

If we can hold onto Morgan, and make some signings then I will be more upbeat, but at the moment I can't help but feel like the club has made all the wrong decisions so far this window. It's not just the quality that has been sold, it's the 'leaders' which makes it worse. Rickie, Adam, Dejan and Morgan were key, key players last year.

Saw someone say we had a £100m budget! I am a bit cautious about buying too many players, but I'd be happy with 5/6 top quality players and to get some youth in the squad.

She has Reed who was around when Cortese was here I'm sure if he was **** Cortese would have got rid. We have loads of scouts and other staff that will help out. At the moment she has only done one thing that went wrong and that is Krueger being speaker at the start.

Contracts mean jack ****. We can't keep a player that moans about being here, you can't blame the board for players wanting to play for bigger teams.

I would tend to agree with Beddy and I don't think we will enjoy anything near the success we had last year. Losing the likes of Lallana, Shaw and Lambert would tent the abilities of most teams. Not only were they the better players in the squad in 2013/14, we didn't perform so well when their replacement case in. The threadbare nature of the team ultimately cost us a higher position .

What I think is that the squad lacked depth. The likes of Rodriquez, Schneiderlin, Fonte, Wards Prowe, Chambers, Davis, Wanyama , Lovren and Clyne form the basis of a good team. Ramires flatters to deceive and I would have to say that he was one of the first names that I anticipated going out of the door along with Osvaldo. Coupled with the fact that Hooiveld, Yoshida and Gallacher don't seem good enough at EPl level and that we have also lost Guly and have Rodriguez out injured, the re-building of the squad is a monumental task. We will effectively require nearly 12 new faces to step up to the breach. Whether these are brought in or promoted from within the ranks will be interesting.

Koeman is good appointment and will attract talent yet the current situation reminds me a bit of QPR two seasons ago. Any new signings are likely to be quite mercenary and I hope that the acquisitions that come in are committed enough. The likes of Harrison Reed will need to make the step up to the next level .

I think there are teams worse than Saints for sure yet this season will be a let down after watching the scintillating football that Pochettino had us playing. We hit a glass ceiling and whilst I can't see Saints ever being big enough to break in to the monopoly of the larger clubs, it would have been nice to see us cement our place amongst the higher echelons.

I'm not worried about relegation (yet?) but I can see why people might be. I can't remember any club selling so many players in one summer unless they were in financial meltdown or had just been relegated.

So new signings will be mercenaries? Some of you love the negative crap. You try to look into the future and predict what will happwn when we all know nothing. Instead of being negative why not try and take it a it comes. You can see why people view footy fans as crazy people.

If you honestly think that there is nothing we could have done to keep some of these players, then I have to say you're wrong.

I can't think of any other team that has let 3-5 of it's best players go in the same window. The key point for me is the same window. If we sell 1 or 2, and re-invest, then you can see why they have done it. This is why I think keeping Morgan (and Dejan if we can talk him round) is completely key.

You're all a load of miserable neg-heads and I can't be bothered to argue with you. I'm off to the happy thread.

Oh, and Ian, it's Gallagher, that's twice you've spelt his name wrong. At get the kid's name right if you're going to slag him off.

    Cheers <ok>

Kk tell me what we should have done? Maybe you should help our board out as you know better. The fact is you do not know what the board have tried and not tried. Until we know that we do not know if they should have done more. We could have tried everything under the sun to keep the players but they still say they want to go. There comes a time when you have to accept it and move on at the right price. If you can't change a players mind and feel his mood will disrupt the squad that is the time.

Think we need 2 strikers, AM, winger and a CB or 2 urgently. CM we already have cover and Reed looks good. Targett can play LB or Clyne can. Boruc's good and don't think we'll have another long injury for him. Wouldn't mind buying a goalie, LB or CM, but there are more urgent positions to fill IMO.

We can bid for more then one player tho. If we wanted we could bid for twenty at once. Just because we have more pressing positions to fill doesn't stop us signing playerd for else where.
