He appealed against the Ivanovic ban on the basis that it shouldn't have carried any more tariff than any other case of on-field assault i.e three games. The FA themselves had said their own procedures didn't allow them take into account the Dutch ban, so I agreed with him the. ****ing hell, even that monumental Liverpool-hater martin Samuel did!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...uis-Suarez-easy-targets-FAs-rogue-regime.html

Afterwards, he was eventually contrite and said how he regretted the Ivanovic incident (but not the Evra one), which is why I'm astonished with this bullshit defence. Didn't ANYONE from Uruguay say "Look at the video Luis - they're not going to fall for that"?
One of my sisters was like that (and she's not that much better now, truth be told). My mum used to say that she actually believed the lies she was telling, but my mum was the one person who could always see through her. Do you think Luis actually believes the nonsense that comes out of his mouth? How could he come up with that drivel after watching the video of his bite?

    ****ing loon.

To be fair, if he has done three times he is likely to repeat rather than not. But who knows. He might suddenly realise that this is severely affecting his team and stop for good.

I read an article by a professor of literature (in Uruguay and a South American football historian ) severely criticising the English for condemning Suarez biting. He goes on about the English sense of FairPlay which is according to him misguided. The. English are stupid in attacking so called cheating in a game and not recognising that it is about doing anything to win and that this has no necessary link with his life outside the game in society. Basically saying it is cultural. This biting is viewed as not that bad in Uruguay and other countries and monstrous in England.

Not recognising that even in Uruguay and in South America players do not bite each other regularly and not punishing it severely in a high profile tournament sends a message to a new generation of young players.

How many people have said that to take the intensity out of Rooney would make him a worse player. So people are willing to accept his nasty side to get the best out of him, pity that understanding doesn't extend to Suarez because of this absolutely false sense of fair play.

Suarez has been a hate figure since 2010, no one gave a **** about his bite in Holland. They did care about his handball v Ghana though.
That for me frames the stupidity nicely.

Suarez handball, oh he's a cheat, Peter Crouch used the dreads of a Trinidad and Tobago player at the world cup to climb and score England's first goal when England were really struggling. No sense of moral outrage there at the England player cheating to get the better of a much lesser team. It went entirely unnoticed, and rightly so, so should have Suarez handball, people try then to justify that fake moral outrage by saying, "Oh look how he reacted to the penalty miss" What? he's evil for celebrating not getting knocked out of the world cup?

people apply morals to footballers that they do not adhere to themselves, pathetic really.

A fan lies, no biggy, a player dives, it's dishonest. The very fan that has told lies through out their life condemns a footballer as a cheat and dishonest person because they go down easy for a penalty.

people are really ****ing stupid, football fans especially so

The tribal loyalty whether to club or national team never ceases to amaze.

A respected Uruguayan writer said that he is being labelled a traitor just for trying to justify the punishment that Suarez received. It seems everybody and every journalist in Uruguay must side with him and against FIFA. No other opinion or view is acceptable. No one should be able to say that Suarez did anything wrong. Even if his defence is plainly laughable and apparently played a role in increasing the punishment.

In the same way, a fan trying to put across a less than partisan viewpoint on these boards often get dismissed <whistle>

Not just the boards mate, all social media. Most people try to conform to the mainstream view, crying out for validation. There are some who don't, you usually find they are ostracised or labeled. Social media and forum personality is often at odds with the actually personality and principles of the actual person making the contribution.

not just online, people act this way in groups too, trying to hard to be liked can lead people to say and do mad ****. It's a little sad.

^perfect example of the modern social media idiot. Tobes is obviously intelligent and balanced and has principles and to talk to in person I reckon he is much less of a pain in the rear and talks less bollocks than when on the internaught.

Tobes, your will to win arguments on here can make you a real dick. Just like Suarez can be a dick on the pitch.

I think your getting your morals somewhat confused tbh.

Suarez cheats in his professional career, there's victims caused by his cheating, as it's altered results and impacted on other professionals, so it's in no way comparable to a spectator telling a meaningless lie.

I don't think it's got anything to do with the digital age either, we'd be saying the same things and having the same conversations about it at home, work or the pub, if we were relying solely on TV and the written press

people are very different in person than in a group of people, never mind the internet where there are no direct consequences of being "incendiary":D

The more people you put together the more they become a herd with a herd mentality, this is true.

Besides I am only going on what's been said here and there by one or two that have met you personally and some of what you post. Got the impression you're an OK lad with the ability to be a right **** <laugh>
