I know he's a Cardiff player, but as Yankee suggested, worth a punt? Been superb in defence all tournament and can cover that position as well as DM and would add much needed steel in this area. Thoughts?
I like him but he plays in a different position for Chile I think. He played brilliantly today but seems a tad short to play CB.
He was playing CD in a 3 at the back setup today and had to deal with Neyma, Fred and then Jo coming through the middle. He won numerous headers against Jo is easily several inches taller. He is going to be wasted in Cardiff.
See your points Yankee but he only really had to deal with Neyma. He did that superbly though, commanding the D forcing everything out and wide. He had a day in the park against Fred and Jo. Both were as useless as they've ever been and both are average footballers at best imo. Selection in Brazil must depend on fan popularity as I've seen nothing from either of these, ever, to credit International selection. Fred is a parody, a lazy pub footballer and Jo wouldn't start for Stoke. Just my opinion though. Can't see Medel staying at Cardiff as he's far too good for their level of football, championship, but I don't see him playing here either with Shelvey, Britton and Ki all ahead of him and a CB option simply out of the question.
I'm not so sure that in his role he would be behind Shelvey, Britton and Ki. Leon is not getting any younger. Ki is not a Medel. Canas is where at this point - still here or gone. I think he could play an interesting role for us. Coming off the bench at the end of a game we are winning by a goal he would shore things up. He could play alongside Chico as needed and be an interesting partner (this would allow Amat to play at RB). I am presuming that if an offer came in he would jump at the chance to leave Cardiff. It's worth a cheeky offer to start and when we get him we can figure out where he fits. We've all been longing for somebody to deliver steel up the middle ... here is steel with skill.
He's had a great tournament. Poor bugger was disconsolate at the end, when he realised he was heading back to the Championship.
I'd buy him today. £6,000,000.00,plus 50 litres of Homebase red paint, should be acceptable to Cardiff.
Barca and Real Madrid think so as well so that rules us out, not to mention £45 million quid. Never mind, let's see what Bony and Bafi can do for us.
