Not worth it in my opinion, and before any Liverpool fan bring up Shaw, he's a long-term investment.

About a third of what Rooney is getting paid? Sounds fine to me. <ok> You're entitled to your opinion, Matt, and perhaps some LFC fans will agree with you. Who knows?

English players, English premium. He may not be worth it but every club has players on their book being paid a small fortune to twiddle their thumbs and if Lallana links up with Sterling & Sturridge then while he is never going to be world class, he is talented and Rodgers is a good man manager. he should at least get settled into the team and will fit into there system.

Although the Liverpool fans appear underwhelmed. Not the type of signing they where expecting for returning to the champions league.

What do you consider the going rate for Lallana, Matth?

What do you reckon Ashley Young, Cleverley, Carrick, Fletcher etc. are on? Doubt you have many if any players of Lallana's ability on less than whatever he turns out to be on.

As for Shaw, obviously he's a long term investment but that doesn't mean he necessarily should be paid so much until he's actually worth it.

Agree. I also like that Lallana'll fit into the strong English / British core of the team which is important for the spirit of the team. Manchester United had great success with a strong young English / British core with Butt, Scholes, Giggs, and the Nevilles. We have Flanogan, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge, Lallana, Lambert, Gerrard, Johnson and a few more coming through our youth ranks who should break into our first team soon (Wisdom, Ibe, Sinclair). Hopefully, we'll see that togetherness in the season to come from our youngsters.

We're going to have a tough season ahead with extra games in Europe, but it's exciting, too. Looking forward to seeing how our whole squad does.

I went to Birmingham away towards the end of last season and Ibe looked a really good player in an utterly **** team. Possibly a bit too similar to Sterling to play both but looks a real prospect as he did at Wycombe when he was still in short trousers.

"Long term investment", he signed a 5 year contract like Lallana will sign with us.

How the **** do you know either player won't get a career ending injury or be sold during their contracts matth?

Just because your nightly masturbation target is a yoonited player doesn't guarantee anything.<laugh>

Yeah, he is. He's just as quick as Sterling, stronger but not as skilful. I'd say he's more of an out and out winger than Sterling. A lot of Liverpool fans watching him in the youth squad (up to last year actually) rated him better than Sterling. Interesting to see how progresses this year. Jordan Ibe needs to successfully step up like Raheem did.

People probably saw Sterling as an out and out winger until recently. Against us he seemed to be the playmaker for the, albeit with Nicola Zigic for company, and was the only player on their side who looked above conference level. If he gets a chance I'd back him to have a Sterling-esque season.

I'm not wumming CCC, i genuinely believe he's not worth that amount of money, especially the 25 million that's been reported.

Lallana is an "investment for the future", unless of course you know he'll only be with us a few weeks/months.

Shaw is a good prospect but not worth Utd's outlay, also you slated Sterlings wages at LFC as being to much, Shaw is younger than Sterling and his wages are higher, is he worth more wages before proving himself at his new club?

Or is it that you just disagree with everything LFC?

I know, mate, I was being genuine. I think quite a few LFC fans, myself included, think we paid over the odds for him. But I think he'll repay most of it on the pitch.

The name's CCC, not KKK. It can be confusing (one curly, one kicking), though, I know. <whistle>

Lallana is 26, hardly a '' Young player'' anymore.

The chavs are steeped in right wing racism, they even got involved with loyalist terrorism in northern Ireland.

Had to feel sorry for their first ever black player Paul Cannoville, when he scored his first goal for them they booed because he was black, its very sad that any of them feel in a position to finger point on an issue they are experts at abusing.<whistle>
