I might have missed it, but i've never heard exactly who was driving that move. The transfer was postponed i guess because of the Osvaldo incident, but if West Ham offered serious cash and another rumoured value of £8m then I would not be shocked if we gave Rickie a nudge

In fact, another theory could be that the Rickie to West Ham thing kicked this whole thing off. If the new board were willing to cash in on him and he was not so keen on leaving then that could of prompted a big **** you from the others

Nah I see it as a guy being excited about his new job. He isn't saying how he loves the place etc, he is just looking forward to working for Saints.

Hard to show my humour in there :) I am pretending to be cynical. I am actually very excited about the next chapter unfolding.

To be fair though Joe, they had played one season in the Premier league and just survived. Now, they have had major media coverage and lauded by all as we had a record breaking season for us. People will have taken more notice of them now than last summer, and add to this a small thing happening in Brazil, and the players getting international recognition.

"Day 3 here in #Southampton will be something special to me. Somebody of @SouthamptonFC will give me a tour. But if you can give me advice..."

    Bless him. :)

My advice is lay off all the 'loving being at Saints' comments. People will start to think you are just saying it :)

I tend to follow this line of thought; the young players were so excited and positive about the trip they had had with us early in the season. There was a sense of togetherness when they made statements to the press. After NC left and MP made his initial response that he had signed for NC and their shared vision; it all seemed to change. This seems less about money and more a desire to succeed that seems to have left us when NC walked away. Whatever vision NC sold the players and supporting staff; they had a sense of being on a journey with no limits. I think these players lost faith with the management and have chosen to carry on this journey elsewhere. Money is a factor; sadly is the case in football, but overarching is a belief that was instilled in them by NC.

Obviously he should be taken to Southampton's famous red light district on Derby Road, and also he should probably be taken to see my mate Minty in Millbrook who sells skunk at a very reasonable price. Otherwise that's about it as far as Southampton's highlights are concerned.

Lost faith, or didn't even give them a chance? Sounds a little as if they didn't even wait for an excuse to tell their agents, "I'm a billy big balls, get me out of here." The NC bit may well be right, but it does seem a little like "well if he's off then so am I" which frankly just shows the immaturity of the players.

Ramsey Saint and FLT.....I think a combination of both your thoughts is pretty much smack on and very much how I am feeling but I as a life long Saints fan can't switch loyalty as quickly as footballers who follow the pound signs and call that a career move.
When NC left the heart, sole and vision we had all bought into went out the door and has not been replaced. Instead we got that RK....meh! Don't get me started on him

People forget that it's a lot easier to be ambitious when you are spending someone else's money however you bloody well like, throwing a tantrum whenever anyone tries to get their side in. Be ****ing realistic. Why should the gravy train have carried on? Why should KL just bankroll Cortese limitlessly whilst he collects a huge salary?

Right now we are seeing a plan for continued modest investment from the owners, and a move towards sustainability. How anyone can pitch a fit against that is beyond me. To be honest though, they are on a hiding to nothing if we don't hit the ground running in September, because our fans are certainly not realistic.

None of us know what happened or was happening, but KL was either unhappy or concerned (and it's her money and her father's last love). I'm sure that we wouldn't be in quite this position if Nicola and, therefore, Mauricio had stayed. However, for all we know, Nicola had reached the end of his rope and, perhaps, KL is actually putting in more money now she has control of it than she would have given Nicola.

Lets give the Board a chance to put the money out. We cant judge until the end of close season. If we've not bought and bought big by then we wil be in trouble. That said Ron wouldnt have signed if he wasnt promised a big spending pot. He would have known who was leaving.

This is precisely it. There must be good intentions or Koeman wouldn't have taken it. He could have had a number of other opportunities and he came to us. Speaks volumes.
