The problem is when people try to offer him a way out of Liverpool his bites their hand off, well tries, literally. Ivanovic, said theyd have him at Chelsea and BAM, he bites him just above the wrist. The move didn't happen. Then Chiellini and this time he thinks, trying to take just the hand didn't work last time, this time I'll take the arm.
I think the reaction of the Uruguay team and public is very telling. It seems that this is an entire society that doesn't see this type of assault as particularly offensive. Obviously growing up in this environment we can understand how Suarez came to bite people and why he doesn't understand that biting somebody is considered so bad, therefore hasn't really seen any reason to modify his compulsion to bite. Certainly, if the Uruguay people think that they are helping Suarez by their actions, I suspect that they are misguided in the extreme. This is not going to help him reform or even admit that he did anything wrong. You don't reform an alcoholic by telling them that they don't really drink that much, and it isn't really that harmful anyway!
I would have thought so yes. That's the usual practice for an unsuccessful appeal. I can't see FIFA backing down so if he does appeal I would expect it to be quashed and for his ban to be increased.
It's just a different culture, we will never understand it as they won't ours. Only a few weeks ago we saw a Pakistani young woman stones to death by her own father, not something we can ever understand but to some it's acceptable behaviour...
I don't share the same confidence as you Piskie. Enough of an outcry from senior people/figureheads in the game and they'll reduce the ban. Then we have the Liverpool view and the probably legal action from them, they publically defended the man when he racially abused someone and repeated this when he took a chunk out of Ivanovic's arm. The club see goals, wins, points and pound signs, I thought Gordon Strachan was spot on last night when he said football has no morals, clubs and their fans see no wrong in their star assets....
I agree that the morals of football have largely gone down the chute. It's all about winning at any cost these days. There's very little loyalty, players dive and feign injury to try and gain an advantage and the money in the game has created a greedy instant gratification culture. But FIFA are the governing body for the game and they have set a precedent with this ban. Even if Liverpool or the PFA step in and challenge it, I can't see it being revoked and furthermore I think they will want to demonstrate that they have teeth and will increase it if Suarez appeals.
What's happened every time EUFA have tried to impose transfer bans on clubs (Chelsea and Barca spring to mind) ? The lawyers get stuck into it, EUFA back off and the ban is retracted. Governing bodies are weak as piss, they're scared ****less of fallout with clubs because without the top clubs their product is diluted, sponsorship/TV income redcues and those at the top don't get so many freebie trips and beanos. The vast majority of people in the game at every level are selfish, and at varying levels corrupt....
The thing is though that FIFA have bucket loads of cash and influence, the revenue that they secure from the World Cup is unparalleled and they are the ultimate governing body of the sport. This is why Sep Blatter can get away with being a twat, because as an organisation, they are untouchable. Sponsors know that however FIFA conduct themselves they will always reap huge dividends from being associated with their events, so they will always want to associate themselves with FIFA - and thus the cash keeps flowing. Look at the whole Qatar debacle, a classic case of money and influence riding roughshod over rigorous competition. Hence why FIFA won't back down over Suarez, no matter what Lawyer wants to try and take them on ... unless it's HIAG of course ...

Got a feeling Barca may give him a get out clause and he'll be a Barca player next season. We're strongly linked to Sanchez - so I suspect a possible Sanchez plus $$$ deal.
