FOOTBALL: MK Dons: Boss Robinson admits he had interest in Luke Freeman.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson has said that Bristol City's newly-signed forward Luke Freeman was a target for The Dons.

22-year-old Freeman, who was a shining light in an otherwise bleak season for a Stevenage side who finished bottom of League One last season, joined The Robins on Thursday.

Speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio, he said whilst he would have liked to have made a move, he said, " It would have been impossible for any side in the division to compete with Bristol City's transfer policy, adding that it would "blow most clubs out of the water."

He went on to add that he has spoken to six different strikers about a potential move, including division rivals S****horpe's Sam Winnall, who was top scorer in League Two last season.

Talks are ongoing about bringing a new frontman to stadium:mk.

..... and I thought we were now being very prudent in the way we now conduct our business, where does Karl Robinson get his information from, or is he just a bad loser..?

As I said on twitter. Other teams/fans are forgetting our owner is a BILLIONAIRE. As lanny said, if a club like MK Dons could out bid us then I would be worried. Except for us and Sheffield United there isn't another team in this division that is an attractive move for a "big player" Peterborough can splash the cash about also but as for location and the future Bristol is by far the best choice for any player. There isn't anywhere else in the UK I would rather live than Bristol which is if I were to move it would have to be to a different country.

Sorry Karl we are a much bigger and more attractive club to play for than the Franchise you manage!

Someone else who thinks we are a "Big Club"

Just because we are set up for the Championship doesn't make us a big club
The Manchester clubs are big. Arsenal Chelsea and Spurs are big clubs. Even West Ham and QPR are bigger than us.

We are what we are - a lower half Championship side who have under achieved. Nothing wrong with that - its actually quite a good place to be, because when we over achieve it feels like Christmas

is Karl going to say "the lad didn't fancy us" or "he thought SC was a better manager" - of course not. He is going to say "they had more money than me" so that his Board of Directors dig deeper the next time he asks. Its all gamesmanship. What we can offer is a club that 'could' knock on the door. And with excellent professionals to learn from. I would join City every time.

Oh dear - perhaps Milton Keynes should think about what they did to Wimbledon when their rich owner moved the franchise and p*ssed all over years of tradition

Do you think they might try to tap up Sammy again?

And MK Dons are very high up morally for club affairs.
I've heard they have so much money that they can transfer a whole team!

    Hang on a minute

We've been through the Man City ethos of lets sign everybody we can for as much money as we can waste' and all to no avail, to the '5 pillars of austerity and bullshit' which need I remind you nearly dropped us into Division 4 by tightening the purse strings.

We have a billionaire owner in the 6th or 7th biggest city in the country and we are still in the 3rd division out of 4. Rich is one thing, knowing anything about football, or how to achieve real success is another.

I wanted SOD out long before he went, and his PR was spectacularly dire, but I will wager he is a bit miffed that SC appears to have an open cheque book when he had very little money at his disposal ?

He probably is miffed about it, but on the other hand, SC is fortunate that all the highly paid dross that we carried for so long, have all now departed. Thus freeing up funds for more, realistically salaried squad members.

Oh don't feel sorry for him! If he had the balls to tell the board he wants money to sign people they would have backed him. I heard he didn't get on with the Lansdowns' which is why Keith Burt was brought in so they had a middle man. We also spent just under 400k on Flint. around 200k on fielding so he had a bit of money to spend.

I'm not sorry for SOD. He was the biggest disaster as manager that I have ever seen at City.

I dont feel sorry for him. IMO he's the worst manager we've ever had...

I was just pondering the whole situation whilst waiting for the hotel to cook my tea last night !
