Assuming that Danns is off to Scotland, who would you want instead to bring a bit of creativity to our midfield? Try to be realistic. I was thinking about David Jones, he's just been released by Wolves. I don't think he's an exact replacement for Danns but he's a really good footballer with a good shot on him who'd work well with Bobby Koren. Wolves paid a million quid for him, I think.
Somebody like Glen Whelan from Stoke would be a Good Addition if he were to leave Stoke. Henry lansbury on loan from Arsenal or even take a look at Mark Randall released from The Gunners
At the moment, we've got Evans, McKenna, Oli, Bullard, Harper, Cairney and Koren who can all play in the middle of the park, we'll lose one or two of them and Koren and Evans could be played wide, but we've still got a lot of central midfield options. I'd rather we concentrated on some wide men, I'd like to see us get Treacy in.
I would obviously have liked Danns here but i am slightly confused why we are after centre midfield players all the time. We have Cairney, Harper, Evans and Mckenna. Surely thats enough. Mckenna and Danns would be the first choice pairing in the middle but why pay 500 grand for Evans when we are on our uppers. Plus Koren is good enough to play centre midfield.
Jay Spearing on loan if his wages aren't bad. I think realistically McKenna is the only central midfielder we are going to get, as each day goes by I want Olofinjana to stay more, yes if he went now I wouldn't mid and we could reinvest the wages however the later it gets we are unlikely to use his spared wages. I think our midfield shall mainly revolve around this next season assuming we bring a winger in. Stewart Olofinjana Evans/McKenna Koren/New Winger I also think if we get Ayala and Hobbs - Chester may be used as a midfielder on the odd rare occasion. Pearson needs to be consistent with his starting XI and now he's made the signings he has wished you'd hope he does that and doesn't neglect the players he has purchased.
Agreed, he's been getting loads of first team action under Kenny, think he will be a key player for them next season.
with Lucas,Henderson,Gerrard and probably Adam. Really? He'd be 5th in line and that's presuming Meireles gets sold if not 6th. & if they play a 4 man midfield he would have no chance, Kuyt and probably Downing on the wings. No chance is a bit over exaggerated and the 'he'll have a good role to play next season' suggestion is rather peculiar and amusing. I'd put a tenner on him not making more than 15 league appearances and doesnt start more than 5 league games.
there's a player called Cairney who looks handy and with an extended run of first team football would be an excellent addition. Don't know where he is these days?
I'll try and be realistic but... Perhaps Robert Koren. Let him play through the middle and if Cardiff continue selling off the family silver get Whittingham in on the left with (eventually) Stewart on the right. Or get Andros Townsend on loan? Does Aaron Ramsey still need to prove his fitness?
Tamir Cohen From Bolton or is he more defensive? scored a few. Jason Koumas From Wigan be ideal. Might have to take a wage cut but dont see clubs clamouring to sign him. Gavin Mahon mmm bit old though at 34. Kevin Mcdonald From Burnley, exploded onto the scene when he first signed for them, seems to have lots of ability, is only 22 but seems to have gone off the boil. Isiah Osbourne from Villa, more defensive, 23 Gavin Rae from cardiff. Just a few Freebies onthe PFA website. Some pretty interesting ones. Id like Kevin Mcdonald.
What about trying for Andrew Taylor of Boro. He is 24 and available I understand (sky sports), because Boro can only afford to offer him a pay cut. Played well in midfield in their second half of season revival. Cardiff and Bris City also allegedly in the hunt.
Just to add to the Liverpool players: Aquilanis just come back to them as Milan and Juve can't sort out a deal, they probably wont be able to get rid of Poulsen and theres John Jo Shelvey who played a fair few times as well. Spearing could be a good shout as his action could well be limited. He played for Nige at Leicester as well. I think we definetely need a new playmaker in the centre as well as a winger. I like Cairney as a player, even though hes hardly proved himself last season and a starting 11 with Cairney and Evans in the middle would be too weak for my liking. Harpers not good enough, Koren can't control the game consistently enough. If we get Mckenna and play a 4 4 2, im not sure if Evans is creative enough to take on that responsibility. I do like him as a player but I'm not sure if he'd be playing defence splitting balls to feed Fryatt and whoevers up with him.
Shelvey is most over rated player I have ever seen. He looks ****, even when he comes off the bench for Liverpool into a strong 11 he still looks well out of his depth. He'll be playing at a lower level in the next 3/4 years.
Mark Randall has joined a League One side, can't remember who. I agree with OLM on the Treacy front. If the cost of quality is £1m, then that's what we should be paying. Other targets would be: Michael O' Connor at Scunthorpe, Scott Arfield from Huddersfield, Danny Green at Dagenham and Redbridge or Matt Richards from Walsall. I think those are the best League 1 players in the centre of midfield and would be a better option than Harper (but then, so would I). Can't imagine they would cost too much, although apparently D&R want a fair amount for Green.
surely the obvious answer is koren..shame we have probably the 2 best creative centre midfielders in this country outside the premiership..and wel probably never see either played there for us..
why wouldnt we get on. you jusy need to understand hertitage and passion for something you follow. i cant imagine that many hibs fans like the proclaimers either
