If it was an international ban only, not sure it would have impacted the player enough, and FIFA obviously agreed. He knew his world cup was over anyway and when are Uruguay even playing any proper fixtures again after this WC? Least a world wide ban gives him proper time to think and be punished for what he's done rather than just being allowed to start playing again in a few weeks in pre season for Liverpool. I think the ban is about right myself but I would have perhaps put in a suspended sentence type thing in there as well. I.e. any more incidents like this in the next 2 years and it's an automatic 12 month ban or something. There is no way shape or form this should EVER happen on a football pitch, let alone 3 times. I see some LFC fans are now trying to deflect the negativity as 'faux outrage'.

The victim does not have authority over world football. The vile racist committed an unacceptable act on a football pitch with a global audience of hundreds of millions. FIFA's asessment was that it should be punished. Not my opinion. If they wanted to set an example , set a deterrent like they said they would they should give an appropriate punishment. All of these tackles, are mistimed tackles, that includes the chelsea ones, the Liverpool ones etc. Its okay for us to sit here watching them slowed down 10x. But at break neck speed (quite literally sometimes), it can be difficult to time these things, especially when you cannot read the opponent players mind and know where he is going to put his leg etc. I seriously doubt any of these players though, "ya know what, ill break this cnuts leg!"
