Yep ever since we've made the 3 signing's we have caught the eye of every other fan in league 1 as the ones to watch. People already had us down for maybe a top 6 finish but we have gone from possible play off contenders to favourites for automatics within days. MK Dons Midfielder Stephen Gleeson has tweeted about the freeman signing and that we will now be the team to beat. Former Bristol Rovers player Chris Lines quoted Gleesons Tweet with "FACT" So it's just not other fans who think we're the ones to watch, it's other teams players too!

I would have liked to have said we will go about our business quietly but that won't be able to happen now. We're now firmly back in the limelight for automatic promotion and I fear last season will repeat its self as it's pretty much the same scenario. I'm hoping Cotts can keep this ship steadied and we can be competitive from the off. If we beat Sheffield United it will send a very big message out and expectation will be extremely high, let's hope the boys can deal with the pressure and we can have a team to be proud of!

May be weird to say this but if someone offered me 6th place now.... I wouldn't take it.

    Top 2?? Maybe... just maybe.

This happens every single year. We apparently made a ton of decent young signings last season, and with JET we were apparently favourites to go up. Sky Bet has us at 2nd, and most others had us at automatic promotion. Every season it's the same bullshit, and to be honest I'm sick of it.

Again, I'm not getting my hopes up until we're ten games into the season. If history means anything we'll have a new manager by January...

I'll be supporting the team, and I think we've made some good signings, but I've thought that for a few years and the team has still deceived my beliefs at every turn.

Sheffield had so many misses in previous seasons they were like city forcasted up with the top 6 last pre season...only to be dragged along the bottom like the mud in the River Parret.............. SHEFF EXPLODED AFTER WE PLAYED THEM and missed out by a handful of points

Looking at the 24 teams for this season it is hard to see who might fail...be bottom 6-8 let alone finish bottom

I think top 8 is reasonable, it will be less like last season I think, where therewere gaps of 9 points 8 points and 9 points between teams in top 6 34 points top to 6th! that's 11 wins difference............... I will do my usual league position forcast in July

Let's not get too carried away - don't forget we have our customary slow start to come yet

Think we best take the 10/1 to win the league now....... ;)

When we beat Sheffield United on the first day 4-0....... we are bound to shorten in the odds....... :)

Losing narrowly to Sheff utd with a good performance on the opening day may be a blessing in disguise.

We haven't won there for 200 years or more.

I'm not expecting a win at Sheffield if im being honest. It's just one of those grounds/teams we never win at. Wolves and leeds being 2 others!

Agree with Banksy. As long as it's a good performance no matter what the full time score we will have done well. A draw would be a great start!

Last time we won at Bramall Lane wiz was just a toddler! (sorry wiz)

We also seem to lose 3-0 there as well.

I reckon we probably need to just ignore the opening day result as a home win is almost inevitable, although our performance and fitness levels will be under close scrutiny

What is it, that we've not won there in the league since 1957 and before that in 1920 or something ridiculous ? We've won at Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal since then !

Funny, the only time I've seen City at Elland Road was in 1974, when we beat one of the most powerful sides in English football history - the first team to win there for about 200 years or so. I have always associated Leeds with that game, and the home first division match a couple of years later when we won 3-2, and an abandoned game at AG when Garland made his returning debut and apparently hit the bar although few actually saw it (fog)

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we didn't pull of an opening day shock at Bramall Lane, and start this season with a flier
