Where did I say 7m for Altidore was Value? It was 6 million and too much. You're resting on that? Something we agree on? Well you've sure shown me Try again.
Well let's be honest, his price tag is more justified than Snodgrass. Jozy signed off the back of a 31 goal season, two years still to run on his contract and was only 23. Where as Snodgrass spent his early 20s as Championship player, got a chance in the premier league and got relegated, with 1 year left to run and a market value of 800k is sold for 8 million. Norwich are laughing. We signed a player for a couple of million more than his worth, not 7 million more than he's worth.
tbh though i would of had him for say 3-4 mil and id say his value was more than 800k as he would of added to his value from playing in the pl, but not 8mil as he has not doubled his value especially with only a year left on his contract i would of just waited it out, they would of accepted a lower value the closer it got to the window closing aha imo
Here`s different way of looking at it. The club buys a player. The owners loan the club the money. They charge interest at 5%. All the time he`s at the club they pocket the money and his resale value doesn`t come into it as the original loan would still be there. Obviously on the sale of the club it would make a difference but, provided the club doesn`t go bust , theoretically, the more they waste the more they make. As long as the club can maintain the interest payments they can keep coining it. Say £20m @ 5% for 6 years they would personally make £6m and the club would still owe them £20m which they`d get when the club`s sold. That`s better than they`d get at Nationwide. As long as they don`t go stupid they could keep it going as long as they want. edit; not sure I`m making sense there now.
not a clue what your on about? ahahaha your saying the owner would make a mil a year on a 20m loan? over 6 years so in the owners eyes its good buisness from him cause hes making money off his own assets ?
Neither have I now. Seems like the owners loaning money to the club and charging interest is a way of making money personally while the business still has the liability. This would be in addition to whatever profit the business itself makes. edit; might be a tax ploy, I don`t know but it just seems dodgy to me.
I think you'd be hard pushed to find any non-Sunderland fan who agreed with that statement. Jozy's a nice bloke, but he's a bloody useless striker, his Premier League record make Danny Graham's stats look impressive.
So did Bob Stokoe & Bobby Robson, both idolised in Sunderland ....... the difference between those two and Bruce is that they actually supported Newcastle. Bruce went a few times as a kid but not as an adult. You're argument is easy and predictable but poor. Seriously do you never get sick of Bruce droning on about Sunderland, even on your promotion and cup final days
It's irrelevant whether Altidore, Mannone or Wickham is worth the money. The thread is about Bruce and his spending patterns. Snodgrass isn't worth that kind of money and everyone knows it, including the Hull fans. Sunderland signing Altidore doesn't mean Snodgrass is worth anything near that price.
Hard pushed? Took two minutes, all you need is a memory And before you dis the Cove. He knows his onions. By the way, your second comment is spoken in hindsight, a monkey can do that and Snodgrass hasn't kicked a ball for you yet so hindsight can't be applied to him. The comment you're responding to was in reference to how both signings looked on paper at the time they signed (Jozy last year and Snod presently), at the time of signing Jozy looked way better value and may still prove his worth as any football fan with decent knowledge will give players time to settle. ****ing Hull fans
I think your optimism is admirable, we gave up on Jozy after one useless Premier League season, you still think he might come good after two of them. Snodgrass' fee was high, but there's a specific reason for Bruce being so keen on him. Not only are short of wingers, but we're bloody useless at set pieces(we can't even take a decent corner) and Snodgrass is excellent at them.
We need one too, but clearly we don't fancy having our bare arse spanked on this one, especially as there's plenty of time for other targets to become available.
I don't understand this logic of Altidore making Snodgrass worth £8 million ........ makes no sense whatsoever. Snodgrass isn't worth more than half of that if you compared him to a million players. Even the Hull supporters can't bring themselves to say he's worth that kind of money can they?
you are kidding about being excellent at set pieces ,have you seen the stats from the season from norwich ,even so 8mil is a huge ammount for a corner to be taken, this price is pure stupidity by hull
There's plenty think they've over spent fella. Just the usual thickhead wums who are too stupid to question events, who trail the boards to defend the mighty Hull who don't seem to get it. That Over18AndLegal knacker is the absolute in thickhead Wumming. No Offence to our own Thickhead
