26 mentions ,have you been counting then or is that another guess from you, Campbell i remember him ,dont think we should have sold him you know.........27
I've not been counting and I wasn't guessing, just joking fella. I genuinely had no idea what you meant by your post (#14)
Follow Michael Graham ‏@Capt_Fishpaste Norwich bought Snodgrass for £2.5m on 3 yr deal. He has 1 yr left, so his 'value' in their books was around £850k. Sold for £8m. Astonishing I have to agree.
that is a shed load of cash for a player who isnt top class. we paid 6 for giac and for me he's a lot better player. there's **** all value in buying english players as even mediocre players cost a fortune. we need to be spreading our net far and wide to get value for money. i dont care where they come from as long as they want to play and can handle the premiership and whats expected of them
I think he's decent myself but to ask for anything over 3m from him is frankly taking the piss. Norwich will be wetting themselves laughing.
That isn't how Mansfield Town operates, never mind a PL club like Hull. There will be a plan, agreed by the manager, the owners, club, accountants, whoever else. Bruce will know that budget and will decide if Livermore & Snodgrass are worth using up that percentage or not. Two things are clear. He's so far spent around £15/16 million to improve last season's squad by ........... Snodgrass. He also appears wary of signing foreign players who may not understand his 'vision' of how the game should be played. Either that or the prospect of starting to play next month, playing with Meyler and being coached by Bruce doesn't appeal. Snodgrass was managed by some bloke from Norwich reserves so it's no big deal to move to Humberside.
Dunno, some anonymous bloke in a suit that took them down ......... made no impression on me at all, much like Norwich.
The fees are undisclosed, but are believed to be £7m + £1m in potential add-on's for both Livermore and Snodgrass(though the BBC are reporting the Snodgrass deal is actually £6m). We also expect to sign Michael Dawson for £4m early next week. I'd have been happier to see them all come in around £4-5m, but since the TV money went up, so did the fees. There's offers in for a couple of younger lads too, Harry Maguire at Sheffield Utd(£1.5m + 500k in add-on's) and James Husband at Donny Rovers(bid unknown). Ehab Allam is doing the deals, Bruce isn't even here, he's in Portugal(he's with Ince, maybe we'll be adding him to the list too).
It's a shocking amount of money for Snody fella. He's valued at at 800k by Norwich's books. Bizzare signing, bizzare fee, not as bad as the Luke Shaw fee though. It's looking like there ain't much value this season. 4-5 million for Dawson is high for a constant crock (first injury free season since the 06/07 season I do believe) But that's dealing with Levy for you. Bruce knows how his budget is being distributed don't be naive. We were in denial in regards to Bent, all the spurs fans told us he was a **** and we wouldn't have it. We admitted we were wrong when it became apparent though. Bruce over spends. He has a proven track record.
This thread is a joke. Sunderland supporters only have a go at Bruce because he used to support Newcastle. Can anyone tell me another manager who guided Sunderland to a top half finish in the Premier League in the last 12 years? No thought not.
We've certainly paid top dollar for Livermore and Snodgrass(we did for Jelavic too), but there was demand for both from elsewhere and they are both good additions, so at least we've buying proven Premier League players. I think £4m for Dawson is about what you'd expect, he has no re-sale value, but he played 41 times for Spurs last season, he's their captain, he's still got two years on his deal and I don't think you'd realistically expect to get him for any less.
We have a go at Bruce because he was within a whisker of us being an established Premier League team on the fringes of a European place and then he f**ked it up big style! It maybe wasn't his fault when key players wanted to leave, but he had no plan B! He bought a load of mediocre / crap players at top dollar and sat there clueless as we slid towards the relegation zone! The fact he is a Newcastle fan is not important! I would have Alan Shearer as manager with Ant & Dec as his assistants if it guaranteed success! We have a statue of a Newcastle fan outside of our stadium! The fact that Bruce said he was sacked because he was a Geordie is what gets up our nose, and the fact that he kept reminding us of this! The fact was he was sacked because he ended up being ****, and because he was **** a section of SAFC supporters, wrongly of course, would remind him of not only his Geordie connections but also his weight! However, let me add that I have not got much against Bruce now, I have moved on!
Oh don't get me wrong fella, decent signings, they'll improve you, how much and how the extra games will effect you remains to be seen. I'd defo have taken Snody like, but never at that price, glad we didn't bid/had bid turned down.
Nowhere in this thread does it mention Newcastle prior to your post. What stupid ****ing idiot you are. Oh and that 10th place finish? We escaped relegation by 8 points and spent the season locked in a relegation battle after been comfortable mid season, we only achieved safety a with 3 games to go (sound familiar? Hull 2013/14 season cough cough), 1 game sooner than we achieved safety this season. Consider yourself educated.
Time will show if it is good or bad business, although those prices do seem OTT. Nowt against Bruce though...
way too much but if the owner/bruce want to spend that much on them players each to there own, we shall wait and see if its good or bad buisness
I have to say i'm a tad worried that this how it's going to be for everyone, a window of over charging because of tv money and the world cup. Hope not otherwise it makes the tv money increase pretty much pointless.
tbh it just means the situation hasnt changed with regards to transfers its just like a massive rise in inflation and the price of everything has gone up with the rise of money available to spend
