Fully agree with Scholes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...nt-sign-Southamptons-Luke-Shaw-34million.html
Scholes is a ****er. The inflated prices aren't the fault of the selling clubs. Saints don't want to sell him. Obviously we want to get as much as possible for a prized asset. Why shouldn't we? We're under precisely zero obligation to scout, train, and play these kids in the first team. If you want to cherry pick them after one good season, the **** you, you have to pay through the nose. Saints certainly aren't going to bend over and apply the Vaseline for big clubs to **** us up the arse.
He's not having a go at Southampton, no need to get upset. I'm not sure what he is having a go at to be honest. The cost of English players in England and not a lot else, he's getting a bit boring really. Yeah, we'd all love a 30 a goal striker for our £30 million but we need a left back so needs must. We also went down the cheap foreign import route with Fabio and Buttner but they were ****e so United are having to try this. For every Irwin and Evra there are 10 or 15 Buttners. Personally, I don't really care if the Glazers have to now spend some big money after raping the club for the last few years. Which they will in turn do once more to get some of the cash back. It's a ****e situation but such is football.
Given that Saints bring through more decent english youth than just about anyone else, it's a dig at us.
Luke Shaw had a medical at Carrington tonight & should be confirmed as a Manchester United player tomorrow morning.
He passed a medical last night - http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/26/luke-shaw-medical-manchester-united-move-southampton
Never really liked Paul Scholes as a player, but since he retired, he has actually grown on me, he speaks a lot of sense.
A huge amount of money for an 18 year old. However, if he takes your LB spot for the next 10 years it's great business. Is he Man Utd quality (i.e CL quality) - not for me, not yet anyway. Personally I thought you should have gone for Moreno, Similar style of player but a lot better. Slightly older though at 21. Time will tell
What they are getting is an 18 year old boy, who is a left back, for the same price they got Van Persie!
Rooney was amazing when he was 18. Luke Shaw has impressed in that he plays like a player older than his years. But I have yet to see anything that would warrant a price tag even remotely close to this price. You have just paid £30m for a kid who will probably be the next Wayne Bridge (good player, but wont set the world alight).
Yep its a huge amount of money but injury free he will be real force in the next few years. He picks up quite a few knocks though and is very susceptible to the common cold
