If you could make one single change to football, anything you like, what would it be?

Whether it's the rules of the game, player/manager conditions, financial, ownership or any change at all you only have 1 change to make.

Make your change and explain why and how it will work.

My change would be to make FIFA a democratically elected body. With canditates put forward and voted for by the season ticket holders of each club, they would go to form a football parliament (to replace the FA) and the national football parliaments would elect their own representative to a World football body.

    Over to you!

Set a cap on transfer fees and wages, £5million for transfers and £50,000 for players. That way more clubs could afford top players and then the top top players might be spread around more clubs and leagues would be more competitive with more winners.

It's funny because Wenger is supposed to be a bargain hunter yet Sir Angry Young Man and Lacking in Intelligence Hypocrite suggests only big clubs spend lots of money

Back on topic, my rule would be one that follows the Bundesliga, where all clubs must be at least half owned by club members. This should stop clubs being bought out by external investors and used as a billionaires plaything, should mean ticket prices remain reasonable and affordable and in general should mean the game is controlled by those that fund it, i.e. the fans, as opposed to being controlled by those that can gain from it, i.e. investors and agents.

I would award a bonus point for every team that scores 3 or more goals in a game. This would produce more attacking football as teams strive for the bonus point. If a team has a 2-0 lead then they will not sit back and protect the lead, they will still attack and the game would continue to be exciting. If you think that my suggestion is way out there then look at what happened to rugby when they introduced the bonus point system.

Cap the amount a club can pay on wages at something like 60%-65% of revenue. And make sure it is closely regulated so that it is just based on the revenue of the club. Might also force clubs to diversify to look at how best to generate income. Got to be good in the long run if all clubs are as well run as Man Utd, us and the *spit* Goonies. No subsidiaries, no fake deals (like being sponsored by the owners company for stupid amounts. It would make the bigger clubs stronger for a while but over time it would balance out a bit better. And also protect against greedy, stupid chairman *cough* Ridsdale *cough* from destroying clubs.

What a load of drivel (as per usual). The poster I quoted wants to drag the better teams down to the level of his because they are not good enough to elevate themselves without handicapping others.

I wish I was as smart as you CG :)

    Are you serious?

I just don't like the fact that these days the biggest boost a club can get is a billionaire coming in and promising to pump in **** loads of cash until his team are the best around.

If you think about it, Arsenal probably would of won a trophy in the last 6 years if my rule was around.

Ps- if we all post drivel, why keep coming onto our board.

For FIFA, UEFA and the FA to be run properly.
That would sort out most of the other issues that plague the game at the moment.

Don't know how they would work it but I'd quite like to see sin-binning introduced for yellow card offences - say 5 minutes at the end of the half.

Make match officials accountable for their mistakes.

Referees make mistakes that can cost clubs titles, Champion's League qualification, cup wins, promotion, or staying in the league they're in, but are never called into account for their errors. For a start, having them interviewed post game to explain their errors, and to stop punishing players and managers who make valid criticisms of their mistakes, will make them think through their decisions.
