As far as I'm concerned the fans will have to be the grown ups and welcome him back with open arms. Anything else will only be to the detriment of the team.

Matej Vydra wants to score more goals in a Watford shirt after signing a second season-long loan with the Hornets

HAVING signed a new one-year loan deal with Watford, returning front-man Matej Vydra says he wants to pick up where he left off at Vicarage Road – by putting the ball in the back of the net.

The Czech Republic international scored 22 goals for the Hornets during his first stint in 2012/13, and says he enjoys the pressure of being the main man in front of goal.

“I want to score goals for the team and get promoted,” he told Hornets Player.

“I have a lot of pressure for myself but I like this, and I want to help. I like the pressure.

“When you are a striker, you have to score a lot of goals. That is why I am here.

“Last year I didn’t play as much as I want, so this year I want to play all the time. I need to prepare well, and we need to start well.”

Vydra, who was voted Championship Player Of The Season in his first spell with the Golden Boys, said he was happy to please Hornets fans by returning to The Vic.

“All the time on my pictures on Instagram the fans say “come back to home” – now I am here. I think they are happy.”

Yep - me too. However, there's a very sure fire way for him to get 100% backing from every Watford fan and it's going to be a lot of fun watching him try!

I wonder how much we have to thank Daniel Pudil for bringing his best mate back to the Fortress Vicarage? I'll say it anyway "thanks Dan"

PS I think we should give Troy Deeney extra fuss now ( you know what I'm saying here, boys)

I believe that the Pozzos see this as the year the club make the push for promotion and hope that the Deeney/Vydra partnership will be as productive as before. Unless silly money is offered for Deeney I don't expect to see him leave.

I believe that Liverpool are looking at Deeney, now that they need a striker. Their offer has been delayed, however, whilst their lawyers work out how to include a ban on cannibalism in contracts for new players.

I think (and hope) you are right Frenchie. But I am not sure whether Vydra being here or not would have any effect on whether Troy would want to stay or not. Troy is a professional footballer under contract and I believe is happy at Watford. However, he is also 26 with 2 years left on his contract, and so is probably at his maximum transfer value now. Even if he has another good season, his transfer value will go down as he will then only have one year left on his contract, unless we can get him to sign a new contract during the season.

I still think if a fair/good offer is made, by a club playing at a higher level, and Troy is confident he can achieve at that level (i.e. doesn't think he will sit on the bench week in week out), and as a result he also gets a much improved contract, then both club and player will give it serious consideration.

The Football Club is still a business and £7M (as an example) now for the club is better than £3M (as an example) next summer. For Troy, who is also a family man, an extra £20K per week and the chance to play in the Premiership would be very tempting, irrespective of whether he loves Watford or not.

So if a good offer comes in then we are in a difficult position. Does the club refuse and gamble on the fact we will go up this year, and Troy will sign a new contract, and potentially therefore lose the higher valuation now and get a dispirited player as a result. Tough choice to make.

Deeney does seem extremely happy at the club - his interaction with the players and fans seems to suggest this. The fact that he tweeted about exciting news for the fans... I think he is very excited about reforming his partnership with Vydra. It's now down to Vydra to prove he wasn't a flash in a pan. If he wants PL football, he will have to score goals and find the form that attracted that interest... and then he will get the chance to play in the Premier League - either with us or someone else. Hopefully a season on the bench humbled him somewhat

As for Deeney - unless a 'big' team come in for him, wouldn't surprise me if he gives getting us promoted a go, and maybe if we look out of it in January, there will be consideration towards a move then

It is in the best interest in the club to keep him and hope to get us promoted. The Pozzo's know the rewards for promotion far outweigh a £6-7m payday now.

Think this whipper snapper needs to realise we have a more prolific striker on our books ATM. He needs a good pre-season and to get in the goals early or the rust he has will fosilize.

Is there anything the club can do about his agent? Sending him with Bassini to L*t*n town centre late on a Friday night wearing signs saying "I'm connected to WFC" springs to mind.

Bringing Vydra back demonstrates the Pozzo's ambition for Watford which is the important thing about this development. The same thinking should apply to Deeney.

Anyone notice that Tim Cahill's goal for the Aussies was very like Vydra's gem?
