Depends what we count as hefty, I suppose. In one way, £18m would be doubling our money, but I dunno if it's really the max we could squeeze out of him.

Yeah, why is it that I'm finding it harder to settle on what a good fee for him is in my mind, compared to others I mean? I suppose with our home grown players there was no former transfer fee to muddy the waters. Like you say, doubling your money should be seen as a good deal although I can't help but think more could, and maybe should, be gotten for him.

If the player is seen to be causing trouble can we keep them? (Not on about Shaw as that was just a big bid).

Not always, but how many would jeopardise their career like that? Asking for a transfer is not "causing trouble", and most players who do so and aren't allowed to leave carry in just as before, at least until the next transfer window...

I ment as in having a moan etc if he doesn't get his way.

I don't care how much they moan as long as they keep playing well. These players should be told to earn their big moves not shown the door at the first sight of a roll of tenners.

If we get a reputation as a soft touch we'll see a lot more players angling for transfers.

Moan as in bitch have a strop and let it effect their game. That's what I ment by saying moan. If it was straight moaning I wouldn't care.

Think Koeman has a hard job, but we are not relegation fodder. That's going too far.

Especially if Ron is getting in players that he has worked with before (although that didn't work out well for Poch and Osvaldo I know!) or at least knows well, so they are not a completely unknown quantity.

I'm refusing to let this spoil my excitement for next season, for a few reasons. Firstly, at the moment only one player has left, and another one or two may follow - we can deal with that. As I said before, I hope it's not more than that, but it hasn't happened yet and no point getting annoyed about it until it's happened, if it happens at all.

Secondly, who knows who will come through the academy next. Ron is a believer in the yoof, so let's hope one or two will come through and add some energy to the squad, the squad that should be looking healthy both in terms of numbers and quality. And it will be interesting to see how the older youth players like JWP and Chambers kick on.
