I think there is more "unevenness" in how FIFA/FA/UEFA apply punnishments than there is moral outrage at things. In the current example, there is no precedence for the bite... sure other players have bitten... but not three times.

Players HAVE acted violently on multiple occasions doing things far worse than Suarez and got lesser punishments. I don't think Suarez's punishment was too light... I think the Joey Barton's of the world, etc, get off too easy. All deliberately violent acts should be treated harshly (perhaps not sensationalised). Naturally as a Liverpool fan, I'm disappointed how his actions for country have had such a severe impact on club, for whom, he has been an angel the last 9 months... but I don't think his punishment is too harsh.

All deliberately violent acts where one player intends to hurt another (I'm not talking bad tackles) should be treated harshly. It's crazy how some players get little punnihsment, and others get harsher punnishments.

I was hoping that this may turn into a sensible debate I was then going to close the other load of nonsense. If I merge now it'll just get lost in with all the crap so now that I've explained myself I hope that's OK with you lot.

The media has also helped many millions by bringing events to our attention that we would otherwise be oblivious too.

Football is in a world of its own, seperate from the real world we live in. You can even say the reaction to this is excessive. Its pretty obvious what it would be and the fact many liverpool fans, the vast majority agree with the general feeling shows this.

The public live a villan though, better to have one in football than those who praise genuinely evil people. And lets be honest, suarez owns more than us all... So why feel sorry for him or the reaction hes brought upon himself?

There is mass hysteria here because Suarez is a very high profile player in fact the top player according to the number of awards given to him by the players and the media. He was the top goal scorer and by the awards the premiership's best player. People were bound to react. Positively when he was doing well. Negatively when he is doing badly. He didn't do himself any favours by gloating after dumping England out of the World Cup. So when he misbehaved the fans got a chance to get their own back. In the internet age, the opinions of the masses get transmitted very quickly. And there are more non Liverpool fans than Liverpool ones, the reaction was in the main pretty anti-Suarez. Note also that he has never once excluded Liverpool fans from his contempt when he was condemning England.

Having said that I do not think FIFA took into account the views of the English press ( or Italian ) when they made their decision despite what Uruguay said. You do have to feel sorry for this small country that has found a genius footballer but flawed to the core as a human being. Surely although biting might not be more dangerous than a kick that could break your leg, would you be comfortable standing next to an angry Rottweiler ? Would like to be bitten like ivsnovic or chellini? Was it not painful?

The football authorities have to take a balanced view. Do they stamp very hard on this offence so that it does not spread or do they say it is not as dangerous as an elbow or a punch to the jaw and therefore exercise relative leniency?

You can't defend him for biting, any more than I could try to defend the long list of crooks that ran Pompey for years, which I wouldn't. I hate them for what they were to us and their links to organised crime.

Robbie Savage has got some nerve though, I agree with that wholeheartedly.

You accuse me of making it up and at the same time talk of lizard people of which I never brought up ever.

But nice deflection, not, fail. You actually said that and I am not sure what is more pathetic, that you cannot stand by your comments or that you said Messi would just be some player in a few years, on a gut feeling you had, probably from a half rotten sandwich you nicked from a bin.

if you say something be man enough to stand by it you loser, pathetic

Your the sort I tell my sons to be the exact opposite of.

You are just showing that this is true, it's all a big show, with no real substance. The public, you mean you, funny how you change when you are asked to explain it.

You are part of this human bots phenomenon, roaming forums and twitter and anywhere that has not banned you spouting drivel in copious amounts. Ridiculing those who think differently. I think you really don't get what was asked given the above.

It is not. It is not about the danger or the risk to a players well being. It is about stamping out an offence which is rare and abhorrent. two footed lunges are common. Even the best players do it sometimes. Our players have done it. The most sensible players of other teams have done it. Biting is not common ( well not yet anyway) and I am not surprised that they use the severest punishment to deter others to set an example.

I know what i said and the context it was said in. Why not list the other players I mentioned and why i stated messi could end up falling away soon. I will help

    Ronaldo
    Cristiano ronaldo
    Growth hormones
History or south americans burning themselves out at a young age.

Oh and them theres the subject being discussed. Ronaldo maintaining his standards as he gets older.

And you did mention lizards. Ffs <laugh>

Could be worse, you could believe aliena came down and built the pyramids etc etc.
