I'm sure you're right- we'd never get caught our by clauses in contracts for promo/relegation.

How much we would obtain for our better players when we get relegated is a moot point.

Assem Allam is in his mid 70s, he will die sooner rather than later. When he does his family will decide what they want to do with his companies, including Hull City. Allam Marine is a profitable company that has been used to push Hull City into the Premier League. Will Assem Allam's family want to continue putting money into Hull City or do they want their inheritance back? If they want their inheritance back they'll start repaying the loans which mean less money available for City.

Of course, it is all very boring until it happens. Only a minority cared about Bartlett's finances until he ran out of money.

Didn't he say he would be gone within 24 hours if the name change got knocked back?

Didn't he say he would never tamper with the crest without consulting the fans?

I wonder what time frame they would give us to pay them back?

    Fair enough.

But are we breaking the bank each year?

Last year it is alleged we broke even or made a small profit, yet we spent loads and had a big wage bill.

I admit that I am not that up on fiscal affairs though as throughout that time, Allam’s investment seemed to be rising (according to him and the press).

Have we ever seen a definitive on what the club owes him? Also why do people who question everything he says, unilaterally take the club’s word on these releases?

I do wonder about the fees, as I think it benefits both sides to display the top side of the fee.

For the selling club, their fans are satiated.

For us, our ownership can use the spending as sign of their commitment.

Perhaps this explains Paul Duffen's occasional presence around the Allams?

The 2007/8 season was a risky but successful gamble.

    An excellent point.

Allam is an accountant managing his own money and has a love for the club. We'll be fine. 5% interest? Excellent for the club that.

Plus if it ever did go tits up there are loads of buyers out there arent there? Thats what the Allam haters reckon

2008/09 was a disaster though because we spent our budget on a mish mash of poor players.

I'm certainly not disputing your concerns as I see them as valid.

But there's that much bullshit and lack of clarity, it's hard to see clearly on these issues too.

About 15 mill of the 2008/9 went to the consortium to pay back their punt on promotion.

If you see the regime and its dealings as opaque, then it’s opaque throughout.

But we do all know we get a load of TV money each year, this needs to be invested in quality.

Steve Bruce, for me, is investing on players who’ll be quality for seasons to come.

    I didn't know that.

But our signings that season were an utter waste of money and helped condemn us.

Season 2 signings need to be sprinkles of quality I feel and that will always cost a club like us (apart from the odd exception, Davies, Thudd etc)

Opaque? I think the communication is mixed- some of it crystal clear some of it clear as mud.

It's neither all true nor all false. A lot of it seems to be off the cuff.

You have to evaluate each bit as it comes.

My point being we mainly have to read between the lines on each occasion, some are blatant others are not.

Why would we take the fees/debt at absolute face value?

Perhaps there's proof that I've not seen (to reiterate, I'm not au fait with the finances)

As I recall, we had one of the biggest wage bills that year- we heard 'We want to compete with the best at this level, so we will have one of the biggest wage bills.'

When we won the jackpot at Wembley, certain directors paid themselves back. I'm deducing unexpected promo clauses and bonuses triggered, a reduced war chest, lack of experience at this level and widespread belief we were going straight back down, all conspired to mean poor and short term recruitment .

I seem to recall 80 mill as they figure quoted on the money they've loaned us, now it's 96 ish.

In some ways it matters not if it's 80, 90 100 or 110 million - the principle of risk is pretty much the same for HCFC.

The Allam time bomb is well and truly lit. It's a shame that many posters on here are quite happy as long as they get a chance of seeing Stevie G.

Those of us with a wider outlook can see that this is going to end in a messy way.

The odious man in charge will want his gift back. No ****er will pay for it...

    Time to wake up.

Wasn't there a figure of £35 million mentioned (somewhere?) as Brucey's 'war chest' for this transfer window?

Or did i just dream it?
