@DuckerTheTimes: In other news .... Herrera to #MUFC on the verge of being done. Expected announcement in next 24 hours
Any news from your reporter mate? @DuckerTheTimes: Told Herrera will sign a four year contract at #MUFC with option of a 5th year @GraemeBailey: Despite Athletic Bilbao shunning bid from Man United - Ander Herrera deal is close to being completed. Just details need resolving.
Agreed, but then this relies a lot on the wording of the clause, which will often require pretty specific criteria to be met. And of course relies on the player being willing to take the case to court, which I think is where the Suarez non move to Arsenal last year fell down - Suarez simply wasn't willing to go to court, with all the attendant publicity and hassle, just to get a move to Arsenal. It might have been a different story had any of the big European clubs been interested.
Herrera has paid his own buyout clause and Bilbao have confirmed this as well as confirming that he's free to join us now. http://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/transfer-news/manchester-united-target-ander-herrera-3769693 Should be officially confirmed tomorrow, might be too late today.

Ryan Giggs, assistant manager on Herrera, in LVG's absence. "We believe him to be one of the brightest young prospects in Spain." #mufc
Herrera: "Having arrived on Tuesday I’m excited to now be living in Manchester. I can’t wait for my first game in United’s famous red shirt"
Herrera: I am looking forward to getting my teeth into a few defenders. Sorry that was Sewer rat that said that
That's what I'm thinking, but right now a maybe midfielder is quite likely to be better than what we already have.
I don't doubt he's better than what you have but he's really got to be good at that price. We'll soon find out I suppose.
