  2. Way to keep up <doh>

He has a nine game international game ban. He also has a four month ban from all football activity. If Uruguay play nine games including friendlies during the four months, could he play immediately after? In other words, could Uruguay be clever and make it four months for them too?

They'll just explain it away as collateral damage. Not a lot we can do about it besides trying to organise some form of compensation. TBH, I expected longer. If he appeals, does that mean he might be able to play an extra match or two during the adjudication process?

  6. So is it a four month ban from all footballing activity followed by a nine game international ban...?

    #2006
  7. Apparently, they can't either.

indeed. the conventional wisdom is this covers the full copa and into next WC qualifiers. so the 9 seem ok. but the assumption there is Uruguay don't go far now. If Uruguay get to semis there's 4 matches gone right off.

that said the assumption would be thye max get to semis now and last 16 match looks difficult... pens anyone?

anyway as its comeptitive Uruguay could pick him in friendlies which would be strange but possible.

Claudio Sulser, chairman of the Fifa Disciplinary Committee, says in a statement: "Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suarez's guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated."

ergo he is banned unitl October 26th at 15:00 or in other words it depends what time that weekend we play <laugh>

Fifa media relations manager Delia Fischer reads a statement on Luis Suarez: "The player Luis Suarez is suspended for nine matches and banned for four months from any football related activity.
"The Fifa disciplinary committee has decided the player is regarded as having breached article 48 paragraph one and article 57 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code (an act of unsporting behaviour towards another player).
"The player is to be suspended for nine matches, the first is the upcoming match between Uruguay and Colombia on Saturday."

she says suspension starts v colombia.

In a way, this will put potential buyers off which is in our favour.

Actually less than I expected from FIFA.

Should have been a lengthy international ban rather than punish LFC

    BR must be ****ing seething

I feel sure FIFA must be taking that into account. The friendly factor can't have escaped them. Perhaps they mean 9 competitive matches and the inclusion of "all football related activity" covers the friendlies?
Bit vague at the moment so I'll wait for the dust to settle.

I'm sorry but you bought him after he had already bitten someone, there was always a chance of this happening. You are not being punished. Why should FIFA pay you?

easy solution here... get an injunction against all fifa sanctioned activity in england and delay start of prem season until nov 1.

Incidentally, only Suarez and Uruguay can appeal... LFC cannot.

Ayre has been out quick... declined to comment... until john henry tells him what to say <laugh>

  15. Uruguay loses him for nine games.

Liverpool lose him for at least nineteen.

I suspect if uruguay try to be clever the ban will be extended.

No. No. NO. You are not being punished. You bought a player with a history of bad behaviour, you deal with the consequences.

The international sanction applies to official matches:

"Official match: a match organised under the auspices of a football organisation for all of the teams or clubs in its sphere of operation; the score has an effect on the rights of participation in other competitions unless the regulations in question stipulate otherwise."

**** its three champions league games he will miss as well.
Thats half the group stage, that could really shaft you.
You willl likely be second or third seeds too, so will get some big teams in your group that you will have to face without him.

He has really ****ed you over <doh>
