It is an absolute joke. Russia is by far one of the worst places to host such an event.

That is an absolute disgrace. How on Earth did Russia get the world cup with their reputation for racism? Oh, I know, they did exactly the same as Qatar, they bought it!

    Good old FIFA strike again...

Will be in the minority here but I think it was good to give them the world cup. They are a massive country and it is only right that they deserve to stage the tournament for once. Besides all the added pressure of the whole world watching them should make them reform.

Quatar on the other hand <doh>

Well that makes it certain England shouldn't have it either then. Banana thrown at Neymar at Emirates Stadium earlier in the year.

Spot on. I think I also recall this happening about a year ago, to Roberto Carlos again. I only remember it because I put in my status how ****ing disgraceful it was. And they call themselves football fans, they should idolise him.

Also Jonnyaiston- was that the Scotland Brazil match, played in London but with no English support, with the banana apparently thrown from the Scottish end, which the Scottish FA investigated and found to be untrue, and the stewards etc had found nothing of the sort? Good one.

Didn't Spanish fans racially abuse our black players a few years ago? Or did I get that wrong?

Didn't England fans cause havoc & chant racial/sectarian abuse in Dublin a few years ago?

The former Yugoslavian nations are notorious for it.

To me it matters not whether it's hatred of skin colour, religion or what club someone follows. Bigotry is bigotry. Full stop.

The US government done nowt to help the victims of the hurricane in New Orleans. Why? Cos they were poor & mostly black.

Imagine if it had happened in Beverly ****ing Hills?

Unfortunately, racism & bigotry are a world wide problem not just in Russia.

Christ almighty, even the Muslims are at each others throat with the Sunni's & Sh'ite's hating each other.

You have the Catholic/Protestant crap in Scotland & N Ireland.

It's all bollocks, all this ****ing hatred.

I for one am ****ing sick of the lot of it.

St Petersburg is a beautiful City. Moscow is OK but in general outside of these two cities Russia is a dump although some of the people are ok .

The driving is attrocious and crime is rife and lets not forget the real problem. Terrorism.

Russia is the biggest colonial power in the world today hanging on to small countries that don't want to be a part of it so there are various groups and factions looking to make their point.

To cap it all the travel will be a nightmare as some of the venues are many many kilometers apart.

Can you be certain it wasn't an Englishman? No. Only certain thing is that it happened in England. My main point is though, England is not exactly innocent from racism.

http://sport.stv.tv/football/scotla...a-thrown-at-brazil-star-neymar-after-penalty/ - Oh there is a banana thrown at Neymar from the fans.

Wow sorry sure I read at the time there wasn't a banana! But clearly there was! My bad. It looks like its thrown from a load of Brazil fans bizarrely?!

But the general point, yes I agree it does still exist in England. But it will exist anywhere in the world and I think there are few countries who have managed to tackle it to the extent we have. Sadly there will always be idiots out there who still think its a good idea, all we can do is make it known its not acceptable eg. give them stick in the crowd for being ****wits, report them to stewards even if they are your fans etc...
