For your considered consideration: an Irish Limerick I've just composed.

    *cough*

There once was a man from Salto City,
Whose name was oft' cheered in a Kop-end ditty,
In the World Cup he starred,
'Til - alas! - he was barred,
For sinking his teeth into Chiellini . . . which is fine, but I prefer chicken, myself, like.

    . . . It's a work in progress. :bandit:

As brilliant as Luis is... I was thinking that he's one more incident away from being worth dramatically less... He can't help himself, he's a timebomb. In a year or two he'll be what, 30?

After last night I'd sell him for the rumoured £65m. Get Sanchez in and play Dan in the middle. We don't need that sort of press.

Saying that if we keep him we have a brilliant player who will keep us up the league and progress us in the CL. Money.

EDIT: What's great is that last summer we literally couldn't have afforded selling Luis regardless of his behaviour. This season saw so much development that we could sell a whole lot easier.

As Greez often says, look at my title. It would be rude not to attempt it at some point. I think I may have found my anthropophagous muse. <laugh>

The only other thing I would say is that the greater saddness is what he is doing now along with the manager and team mates which is trying to pretend it didn't happen as this is the premeditated part, and so much more saddening as it exposes a lack of internal sincerity, something which in reality takes away respect more so than the biting incident.

Lets be clear he had no control over the biting incident as that's what he does when overly stressed or in that place and fortunately no one got hurt. The contrived response afterwards is the real shame.

What should have happened is the manager take him aside in the dressing room and explain he needs face up to it again as he did it, that he would stand with him in front of the cameras and help him. A statement needs making explaining from Luis that he understands what he has done, is full of regret for his uncontrolled actions, full of remorse for letting down his team mates in a world cup which means so much to them, and most of all sorry for the Italian defender who had the indignity of being bitten by me today. I understand that Fifa will need decide a sanction for my behaviour and I will accept whatever this is without complaint, I will then continue as I have done for the last few years to try to overcome that which is inside me that causes this to happen, If football will not give up on me I will not give up on myself and will keep working to make amends.

This reaction from the team and himself would have changed everything.

What we actually got was something so much more shameful than the event itself.

If you look closely at a zoomed in picture of the bite as it happens you can see this is actually a case of entrapment which is probably why Uruguay's coach was so angry with Chiellini.

    Yes and no.

If a.n.other football kicked or elbowed someone then it wouldn't have generated this level of attention but had Suarez done it, it may have due to his list of previous misdemeanours. He isn't 'picked' on for being Suarez, it's because he's done, or at least perceived to have done so many wrong things on the football field his whole career that people just don't like him.

Also with kicks and elbows, it is generally much more difficult to know/prove there was intent to harm (or take your frustration out) on your opponent, with a bite it is a clear attack. Late challenges for instance have and will always be part of the game, biting should never be, happens rarely so more shocking when it does. Plus the rolling around afterwards acting the victim and the post match comments are also deplorable.

I agree but the problem is, he's not sorry (save for any impact it'll have on him personally) and is doing whatever he can to try and get out of trouble. It's the sort of bull **** response you'd expect out of a child....as is biting as it goes.

The guy is as thick as they come, clearly with a moral compass to match.

<laugh> He only wishes to bestow upon them the Dark Gift. He wants them to join him in the ranks of the preternatural and his kiss promises them an eternity of twilight. And it's not the **** TV show, either! <ok>
