I would be interested to know how Liverpool fans feel this impacts the image of their club.

Certainly if you head to newsnow and pull up Liverpool, the only news you get is related to Suarez and his latest bite. Do you think that this will put players off joining the club? Do you think that this will put new fans off supporting the club? How much does this matter?

Personally, I am not sure that it is easy to judge peoples reactions, but I do know that I don't want Uruguay to do well at the world cup now.

If the best defense is a good attack, then, with Suarez attacking the defender, does that then make him the best defender on the pitch? No? Fair enough. <ok>

Why Liverpool should sell Luis Suarez

He has brought shame on the club - again

Suarez may have been representing his country when he sank his teeth into Giorgio Chiellini’s left shoulder, but there is no escaping the fact the striker’s actions have, by association, tarnished the Reds’ good reputation around the world. After the Patrice Evra and Branislav Ivanovic controversies, enough is enough. No player is bigger than Liverpool FC - not even Luis Suarez.

    Brendan Rodgers has been undermined

The Reds boss publically backed Suarez last season, hailing the way he had put his disciplinary problems behind him.

“He is a really intelligent man who fits the values of this club, which is all about humility and class, and he has all of that,” said Rodgers. The manager has invested so much time and trust in Suarez, but he has been let down. Badly.

Three strikes and you’re out. Suarez can’t be trusted any more

One bite was bad enough. Two? Awful. But three? Beyond the pale. There is no place on a football pitch for biting yet it’s a sin Suarez has committed three times, against Otman Bakkal of PSV Eindhoven while playing for Ajax in 2010 and Chelsea’s Ivanovic in a match at Anfield last year. The Reds can’t run the risk of it happening again.

    No player is irreplaceable

Suarez is a Kop idol but it is time to cash in. With Barcelona and Real Madrid jostling for the striker’s signature, ship him out to Spain and pocket the sizeable transfer fee. If the money is reinvested wisely, the Reds’ squad will be stronger.

Why Liverpool shouldn't sell Luis Suarez

    Football is a business

It may not be nice, but it's a reality - football is always about winning, and winning is about keeping your best players.

Suarez scored 31 goals last season and was voted PFA Player of the Year. That does not excuse what he did, nor should it allow anybody to condone his actions.

But the Uruguayan is the Reds' best player and most valuable asset. To sell him for whatever price - a price likely to be reduced following his actions against Italy - would make Liverpool a poorer team.

It's (an unfortunate) part of what makes him a very good player

Suarez's 31-goal haul last season came from a controlled frenzy. He was a bundle of energy, fury, needle - and he released that in the most productive manner possible, by tormenting defences across England.

That spark, that unquenchable thirst to be the best and to win football matches, is part of who he is. Without that, he would not be the same player.

It's a blessing when he tortures defenders. It is a curse when that manifests into something else, as it did in Natal on Tuesday.

It's easy to get swept up in hysteria

As a repeat offender, the reaction to Suarez's bite is understandable. This is the third time since November 2010 that Suarez has done this to a player on the field.

But at the same time, the scramble on social media to become the most outraged is nauseating. Suarez should be banned, whether at club or international level. But he should not face jail, he should not be deported, he should not be banned for life.

Liverpool fans should not be embarrassed by him, nor should the club. His actions are his alone.

    No precedent for doing so

When is the last time a club sold one of their players for misdemeanours on the football pitch? Roy Keane remained a Manchester United player after a pre-meditated attack on Alf-Inge Haaland, for example, while Eric Cantona came back from his kung-fu kick at Selhurst Park.

It could be argued Manchester City sold Ben Thatcher quickly following his elbow on Pedro Mendes - he committed the foul in August 2006 and was sold the following January - but Thatcher was easy to let go. Suarez, as mentioned, is an important asset to the Reds.

Suarez also departed Ajax following his bite on Bakkal - however, circumstances are different.

Shame on all these posters for picking on Suarez. They wouldn't do it to his twin brother, shown below! . . . Someone confided in me that their appearance is uncannily similar!
