......because everytime we are, it ends in great disappointment like when we are tipped for an 'immediate return to the Premiership', or think we have a squad good enough to challenge for the play-offs. Surely we should all be greatly worried on this Board about the prospect of relegation - like 2005-6 or last season. Then we'll be fine. OK I'll start - I think we're odds-on to go down.
We all thought it last season, well, maybe not all, but i know i did...and i think we're realistic enough to know that this season is going to be a struggle and it's hard to imagine we'll be near the top of the table...i think it's just that after the last few weeks, now that something positive has happened, it's brought spirits up a lot...i'm sure realism will set in again soon
52 points is the target I am usually comfortable with. The stats show only 2 sides have been relegated with this total since the league was stretched to 24 teams in 1988. Honestly whether you are optimistic, pessimistic or realistic in our current "austerity" era our first target EVERY season has to be 52 points.
I'm not making any predictions until the season starts. Lets see who we get in (and who is still to leave) and then look at our chances. I like to be optimistic but also realistic.
