  1. Would a elbow or punch not damage bones or tissue? <doh>

It used to be a yellow card offence in the Premier League, well only when it was an English player doing the biting and a South American on the receiving end.

The commentary... "there may have been a tiny bit of contact and Macherano has most certainly made the most if it" <laugh>

    Nearly 1000 posts. !!

There was and is no point wumming. It was an obvious bite. It was indefensible. It was unprovoked and it will be punished by FIFA

Let's hope that Liverpool will not suffer from his actions.

    Yes.

A punch, a kick, and a bite, are all capable of causing anything from a bruise- up to in severe cases, death. None of the above are likely to cause death or anything long term. All should be treated quite harshly. A punch or kick is probably more dangerous, 9/10. A bite is undeniably more disgusting and gross, and requires a little more forethought to carry out.

Personally, I think any of the above is assault and footballers are lucky to get away with it as lightly as they do. All should carry heavy sentences from the governing body.

A bad tackle, not so much. But when there is violent intent- absolutely a bite should be treated very severely- but so should punches and kicks! As I said earlier- I don't think Suarez should get off lightly... I don't think he was punished too harshly in the past... usually most people get treated too lightly.

Of course they were, Rooney did not run past somebody in the middle of the pitch and accidentally catch the back of his head with his elbow, he "got him" for some reason unknown. Barton had an agenda, he did not make three mistakes, he tried to cause chaos after the first incident in the hope of unsettling City.

I don't think anyone can put the actions of chellini as an excuse. Strikers in the WC have faced much worse without that kind of retaliation. I think we really cannot defend his (Suarez) actions.
