Those who've voted yes will be the same people who want Lampard, Van Der Vaart, and Lescott. And they were probably over the moon when Cesar was signed?
A big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO from me. Can't understand this if it is true - seems the exact opposite of what TF/Beard have said that we learnt from our previous, we are already full of good old pensioners especially at CB, with 2 or 3 already if Hughes is still with us. Rio was a good player but it was a while ago, now he's too slow, and injured too much, and he's probably way too expensive in terms of no of games he will probably even play in. Further he reminds me by where he comes from, his declining fitness and speed, and old age, of our worst ever signing IMO - Park.
Just been bitten by too many high profile big ageing, injury-prone names, that have come to us, as a last pay cheque. So it will always be a no. Sure a 1 or 2 have worked out, ie JB, and errrr ????? Versus, Boswanker, Park, BAE, Dyer, AJ, Silva, Jenas, etc
I voted yes but I don't want any of those three, I would consider VDV but don't think he's a good fit for us. Don't remember about Cesar but think I was happy with it. I was wrong.
I voted not sure. It depends on wages and how long the contract's for. I'd be happy with 1 year on no more than £50,000 a week.
It's highly likely- every single pro-Rio argument can be made for those 3 as well. Played for their country, lots of PL caps, very experienced, played for bigs clubs. "Surely they're good enough for QPR". The very same was said about Park Ji Sung.
I understand where you're coming from, but we can't be sure which signings will work out and which ones won't.
Well this seems like a real Marmite one looking at the poll so far. The yes vote is in front but by no way is it a landslide. Mabey the Yes and Not sure yet voters could form a coalition to get the majority. No sorry I'm just talking c**p now. On a serious note if Rio does sign then despite our views we should all get behind him and the team, they need us in good voice next year. I was a no vote btw.
Class above what we have now, he controlled the game from the back when we played utd at loftus rd two seasons ago. Massive yes from me was world class in his prime.
Why risk it though? We're not struggling for cash, we've got good owners & a promising "project". You'd hope we'd be able to attract some decent <30 players. John Terry could play a blinder if we signed him, and he's certainly on paper better than anything we've got. He's not the right kind of signing a club like QPR should be making though, and i think Rio falls into the same bracket. I'd hope the club would only compromise on it's principles (no expensive aging superstars with noting left to prove) if a truly exceptional offer came along. Carlos Tevez or something like that. But even then, you'd know something of the "spirit of QPR" had died when shipping in ready-made superstars like that becomes accepted/normal
No, not really ............... I wanted Lampard but passed on the rest. Cesar, well, he's a different kettle of fish. Good player, indifferent attitude to team, driven by money.
I'm not sure, never really liked Rio but I think that's a Man Utd thing more than anything and I also think his pace has probably gone a bit now. Saying that if he comes in a plays well he will get my full support. Knowing our luck we've probably resigned Anton by mistake!!
Aren't all signings a bit of a risk? Ferdinand would be the right kind of signing imo. Still..............who knows for sure? I think we'll agree to differ mate.
Well, I'm working on the theory that Rio wants to come to our club and play at part. He is prepared to put in the hard yards and win it for the fans and the club. He will pass on his knowledge to the younger brigade which in turn helps the club. He will get along with the other senior players for the betterment of the club. He may get injured but at least he will show that he will 'put in' when available and let the fans know he's up for it. He will prove to be a expansive but good signing and lets face it, if we buy a player for 10 grand a week and he doesn't put in, isn't he a expensive waste, so even if Rio costs 65K a week and plays consistently and favorably, surely he is then deemed as a valued investment. If Rio comes to the club, I will give him 100% of my support and expect him to do likewise for the team and club ................ Welcome ole mate!
Don't be daft all you NOs ... Of course he would be a massive asset for us plus we have no home grown talent in fact we haven't got a team With the money involved in this sick league then we must but players who are proven and can do a job for us ... he will Players come and go today and the age thing is rubbish
Obviously his age is a question mark, but if we are going to sign any 'older pro' then you can't say no to Rio Ferdinand tbh. Clearly him taking a massive pay cut, rumoured to be less than a 1/3rd of what United were paying him, is a good sign. He isn't a mercenary like the players who we signed before, and has vast experience. I actually think he could be a good signing. But we do need to look at younger, fitter, and faster players alongside this - otherwise we have learnt no lessons.
Of course players are driven by money and who made English football like that? ...SKY You won't de invent it maybe you can cap it? QPR has money and ambition and are in the richest and most over hyped league in the world ... wake up or support and worship local football If you have SKY in your house then you are equally to blame
