Unfortunately, if not getting out of the group stage isn't enough for a shake up, then I don't think losing this game would do anything to change their minds either!
Remarkable that Lambert's performance against Ecuador gets him only 3 minutes in the world cup. Hodgson really should be ashamed of himself. Barkley should have been the player going off on the hour mark, not Lallana. With Lallana being shifted central. Sturridge should have been taken off for Lambert. But I have to keep reminding myself that this is Hodgson we're dealing with.
Really disappointed with the substitutions we have lost any momentum we had and ended up with Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard on the pitch. I feel Lallana was far more effective than Sterling, who yes can add pace and width but gives the ball away far too much and you can only really afford one luxury player (not three: Barkley, Wilshere and Sterling). Defensively I just don't see where we are going, players like Jones and Smalling especially (don't know what Man U has done to them) are technically so poor and cannot pass they just rely on athleticism - a stark contrast to players like Shaw. Had a few chances but Sturridge wasteful and a real shame Lambert did not get a look in.
Costa Rica's story is better than anything England could have written. They've won a group of death. Unbeaten. Ridiculous.
Positives: Shaw looked good Lallana and Barkley played well Lampard and gerrard to retire Negatives: Sturridge needs 10 chances to score Sterling does not cross Jones is not international standard Hodgson in charge for another 2 years.
