  1. False or true sense, if it makes people feel safer then whats the problem?

Of course, you could look at the other side of the coin too. If they didn't do security checks and something happened, what would happen?

It's not the checks themselves, it's the way they're carried out.

There's a total lack of common sense applied and they sometimes appear to revel in making people uncomfortable.

    1. can't see your sausage

    2. you need to give as much agenda to the cranks as you do to the governments fo the world. everyone has an agenda.

    3. body scanners i went through in airport have worker standing right in front looking at scree. you can see what they see by simply looking at the next person along... image doesn't show anything.

    4. there are different types and standards being employed. don't assume all are good. but as i say use the right technology then start by opholding basic dignity and we are in this together attitude.

    5. anyone carrying metal as suggested really should be seached. its celar.. you say "hello i have a pin in my knee i need to go differently" or " yes officer i was actually listening to the 56 announcements begging me to check my pockets and removal all metal"

finally this one is right up your street sisu

    http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.co...port-body-scanner/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

just don't tell these guys about metal detectors adn the new millimeter wave machines use electromagentic fields and cranks on about pylons say thsoe are harmful too.

in short some people are just cranks. (not saying you just the blogger)

you've posted pics of the other technology... the backscanning x ray one. the millimeter wave one technique doesn't have to do that its on the frequency of wirelass data rather than x rays. like i said the technology exists to make it dignified and not a problem.

oh and i'll bet you i've been though more airports in the past 3 years than you and have seen this topic first hand... so ease off on the haven't a clue.

oh and btw ever hear of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 in the us... the image taken is replaced by the image i showed which means the tsa agent is sitting right there just like the one doing you luggage and you can look over their shoulders and see what they see.

there are images behind in software but the are supposed to be deleted.

in short its the better way, step in, step out nobody touches you and so forth. as an experienced traveller i find it bemusing how people can rock up to security with 90% of thier liquids being too big (and technology again can eliminate this crap) covered in cheap jewelry, metals, never empty thier pockets and basically make the security guys so tired and mad that it is counter productive.

10 minute queue.. nobody puts their stuff in their bag, nobody removes a thing etc etc.

the day a major hub in the england modernizes fully i'll be glad... removing shoes.. unnecessary... removing liquids, unnecessary... belts, unnecessary... sticking your hand down pants.... illegal, invasive, rights breeching... totally and utterly unecessary.

i do agree with you on the groping and I as in capital f'n I made the small airport easy terrorist rout first! i agree. all i'm saying is modernise to end the intrusive roping and put the terrorists where they belong. but how can you be talking uk and post us originally? i mustr have missed where you switched.

i suggest you take a step back with the you don't know what your talking about stuff as you are bringing in 1000 diferent things on a conversation about airport security and whether airport scanners are good or bad to end the groping.

just read what i put in bold above... just read it back and see how insulting and sorry but ranting it sounds.

for the record i've travelled to us over 20 times in the past 2 years with multiple destinations and connectors, germany via copenhagen, paris, frankfurt, out of dresden, stuutgart, dusseldorf. to barcelona. i've been over and back on project to germany for what.. 6 years and on average have done 5 a year.

if i know nothing about airport security by now...... if you however think i need to know about all those other topics you've got inserted fine but i know about being groped in airports and how it can be avoided through technology

Out of interest have you ever actually worked in an airport? Otherwise I'd imagine you have no idea what your talking about just as much as anyone else.

You seem to be arguing against people who are with you about changing the way airports work.

It's worth mentioning that all those other things you list e.g. Football grounds, shopping centres etc are now built with anti terrorism measures in place.
