Man Utd have spent £29m on another number 10

    That's now £133m worth of number 10s

United agreed £30m for Luke Shaw.

Blimey... and people wonder why there aren't more English players playing for the top club when £30m id the going rate for someone with 60odd career appearances under their belt <doh>

    I know, its totally insane.
I could kind of understand it when Rooney went for that amount, because he was awesome for an 18 year old, and a forward.
Shaw is a left back..................say that again to yourselves.
You are going to pay £30m for someone who wasnt even born when David Beckham made his debut for United in April 1995. And he has performed in that role "adequately" for a kid playing at Southampton.......completely ****ed!!!

I wonder if Luke Shaw can play in the number 10 role... :bandit:

  17. As expensive and overly hyped Shaw is right now, I think he will turn out to be a brilliant player and well worth the spend when looking back in ten years.

So long as the £200m warchest is true, otherwise they need a non-number-10-midfielder and a couple of CBs much more than a LB. A striker too. And some new wingers.

Possibly. Or the pressure of £30m could prove too much for him and after a couple of seaons if he's not living up to his price tag and not getting ahead of Evra it could well stunt his development.

We shall wait and see though. Certainly didn't look a £30m left back for England against C.Rica.

I know its just crazy when you think that we paid £5m + Gallas (who cost us £6m), so £11m for Ashley Cole when he was 25, also English and was the best left back in the country, I know inflation and all that, but 3x the price of Cole?!
