Yaya Touré has claimed Manchester City denied him the chance to spend time with his brother Ibrahim, who died of cancer last week.

Touré took part in the Premier League champions’ end-of-season tour to Dubai before flying to the World Cup with Ivory Coast while his family tended to Ibrahim in Manchester.

In an interview with France Football, Touré said: “I confess that I am still very sad. I’m suffering because I feel I have done nothing useful for him the last few weeks.

“At the end of the season, I wanted to stay for four or five days with my brother before I flew to prepare for the World Cup with Ivory Coast, except that City did not want to give me a few days.

“I went to celebrate the title championship in Abu Dhabi while my brother was in his sickbed. By fortune, Kolo was at his bedside. After that I blame myself for not insisting and for not leading them to respect me.

“However, club officials knew that I had been suffering for a few months seeing the health of my brother decline. This is the reason I had several injuries at the end of the season, because my head had taken control of my body. These last four months have probably been the hardest in my life.”

Relations between City and Touré have been strained of late and the Ivorian midfielder’s assertion will fuel speculation the 31-year-old’s future lies elsewhere.

The real story behind the massive birthday outburst?

Or just using his brothers death to try and get a move saying City arent compassionate (would be wrong on many levels if this was the case)

Think the boy should just admit he wants a move and stop pussyfooting around tbh

If this is true, then the 'showed him no respect' comments, then Yaya has shown an incredible amount of class in my opinion.

I'm sorry to be a cynic but I don't buy this. I think he's a liar. And a disgusting one at that.

Its not that mate, hes been whinging about City for a month

Now i admit his brother has been ill and has unfortunately died so yes RIP Ibrahim and Yaya should of got compassionate leave

However he should of came out with that or not came out with anything at all (birthday whinge/saying he wants to retire at certain clubs etc)

He and his advisors have been daft coming out with what they have before this as i dont believe he will get as much sympathy as if he had just been straight or kept the matter private

I'm a wee bit sick of him banging on about disrespect. He did it at Barca. He's done it multiple time at City.

Those birthday comments were pathetic. If your brother was ill you'd tell the press that in the first place. You wouldn't say they didn't buy me a ****ing present.

I think he's made an arse of himself and now he's using his brothers death as a get out. If this is true there's no way he'll play for City ever again. You couldn't bring yourself to do it. You'd try to rip up your contract. I think this is as scummy as it gets mate.

I sort of agree with Disco here, for me it's probably a case of him bending the truth. If his brother was dying, I don't believe that he would have given a **** what City had wanted him to do, nor do I think City would stop him. As much as I don't like them, rivalry aside City are a family club type, and I just don't see anybody at the club being this ****ty to their crown jewel, especially since they handled the Tevez 'running off to Argentina' affair so admirably.

I am not convinced this hasn't been somehow manipulated by the media either though, Yaya Toure doesn't seem to be the kind of person to stoop that low just for a transfer.

As would the media.

I certainly don't think Yaya would have agreed to let his agent use his dead brother as leverage for a transfer. I'm interested to hear what Kolo has to say on this, and inevitably Harry Redknapp, for no reason.

He's got to be telling the truth, or certainly he believes from his perspective that he's telling the truth. Just too sick to use it to force a move.

Certainly sorry for his loss

But as others have mentioned it was his birthday that was the issue before, that being said I'd like to believe no one would stoop as low as using their brother's death to get a wage hike/a move

Yaya Toure has quashed speculation that he wants to leave Manchester City.

Toure has been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions this summer, amid reports of a breakdown in his relationship with the club's hierarchy, but the Ivory Coast international was quick to reassure the City faithful.

"There has been a lot of speculation but they’ve always been good with me and good with my family," he told Sky Sports News.

"I want to say that I will always honour my contract and stay as long as possible and don’t think about all the speculation saying that I’m leaving.

"For the fans for all they have done for me and the club as well, I need to say it’s a big pleasure to stay and continue and try to enjoy the next season.

"Everything is fine now. There was a lot of speculation about people sending me away and people were sending me everywhere.

"I think sometimes it can be disappointing and I need to do something for the fans because people love me and people want to hear about what is happening. So it’s important as well to keep them in a good way and let them know that the team are preparing well and we’ll try to do it again next year."

Toure, who joined City in 2010, signed a new contract last year keeping him at the club until 2017 and has been instrumental in the club securing two titles and one FA Cup in the last three years.

It had been reported that Toure was upset that City had overlooked his birthday in May, but his agent was adamant that any problems have now been resolved.

"He has a contract and he will work very hard and I hope that next season Yaya will be the best player in the club," Dimitri Seluk said.

"I hope now everybody is very friendly - and I hope for his next birthday they will celebrate together."

****ing two faced, lying ****.

If he's not happy at city can you manage how happy he would be playing for us, I'd have him in hopefully mid table battle lol. Do him a party myself for his birthday next year

Sorry about that comment mate. I had just been giving some devastating news regarding my mother and my head wasn't in the right place. I totally take that comment back.

Not to worry mate, sorry about your loss

Given light of what has now came out it looks like suspicions of Yaya may have been correct

Shows how much of a knob he is

Bloody hope not
His behaviour has been pretty disgusting tbh
I've no doubt a few good performances will get us fickle supporters back on side but it's left a very sour taste
