It seems the time has come to move some players.

Sheffield Wednesday are linked with a swoop for Queens Park Rangers striker Andy Johnson, reports the Sheffield Telegraph.

Wednesday boss Stuart Gray is looking to strengthen his attacking options and Johnson is believed to be on Gray’s target list.

The former Crystal Palace and Everton striker scored two girls in 20 games for QPR last season as the Hoops achieved promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs, but the 33-year-old is set to leave the Loftus Road side this summer when his contract expires.

The Star understands the Owls tried to sign the former England international on a temporary basis earlier this year but Johnson wasn’t interested.

He missed QPR’s play-off run in with an ankle injury and last featured for the Hoops on February 10.

The striker has been injury plagued since joining the Loftus Road club in 2012.

    Good news.....
Not a bad player, pretty honest, didn't dislike him at all....probably the right sort

But a bit too injured, a bit too old and a bit too "not good enough"

If he didn't have one injury since joining us I am absolutely sure he would have been one of our main strikers and would have scored quite a few and assisted plenty. He's similar to Rooney in the sense that even if he doesn't score he'll be extremely useful on the pitch. I rate him but his injury record speaks for itself.

Agree. His attitude, application and ability were never in question, and I was surprised that he didn't get more England caps. However, some players are a little too fragile for a long-term career, and sadly he's one of them. he always did well for us when fit, but he wasn't fit regularly enough or for long enough to have the impact I'm sure he wanted.

Wherever he ends up, he's been a part of the QPR story, so I wish him well.

    Sadly, major sick-note.

I wish we could have seen more of him since we might have nabbed 1st or 2nd but then we would have missed out on OBZ Day so it's all good in the end.

    Cheers AJ and good luck.

He must go. We can't afford to have a sick-note in the 25 man squad. We had a squad of 42 last season (after a quick look at the play-off final program).

A brilliant and honest player, whom I wish well for the future.

He was a bad player with an even worse injury record.

His speed always gave the impression he'd do something but his scoring record proves he rarely did, he had one good season where he dived his way to scoring about 14 penalties, apart from that I'd bet without looking that he rarely broke double figures.

From 2002-3 to 2006-7, he broke double figures in five consecutive seasons for Crystal Palace and Everton.

neither has Peter Bonetti - he hasn't kept a clean sheet for years....

Don't make every single thread an opportunity for you to turn into the Grinch. We're all tired of the persona by now....

Of course not. Winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League in the same season wouldn't be good enough, not if we still had Barton, Redknapp etc. at the club...

I can safely say not one of those will happen with Redknapp here.
