don't like americans much do you sisu lol. i can see your point, but terrorists can come in any shape or form, by searching everyone they are showing no one is immune to a search. lets say for arguments sake next week or week after its a child or elderly person that ends up being used as a terrorist weapon (can happen) then what? the part of this story that they need to explain themselves really for me is this "She started to cry, saying 'No I don't want to,' and when we tried talking to her she ran," Croft said. "They yelled, 'We are going to shut down the airport if you don't grab her.'" now that is ott, she is 4 ffs and doesn't understand what is going on.
you didn't answer my question. what if a child or elderly person is used as a weapon then what? this is a scenario that the americans and english have helped create yes, but, what methods would you use to ensure the protection of civilians? what does a terrorist look like?, also by not searching everyone, if i was a terrorist or wanted to use someone for it, i would look at this and think hmm interesting so children and elderly are immune to searches lets take advantage of that.

I think i was through barcelona when first ever given this crap treatment. we are SUPPOSED to be defeating terrorism not allowing little ****es come up with ever more degrading body searches in airports based on spurious security hazards I mean seriously use the new technology scanners. Was through newark on friday the 13th.. they had the whole section with new tech closed so they could feel up sweaty passengers. Groping occurs across europe and i am convinced that some airports have perverted security guard who turn up the sensitivity so high to cop a feel. Oh and in the US... the scanner can beep "at random" and they have the power to grope you as a result. It is actually an outrageous abuse when you think they have the technology to not need to do it at all. and to hide the outrage behind "security" In short stop allowing this crap and FORCE these cheap assed perverts to use the technology to put dignity back in western travel.

As for this, not sure the ***** angle is appropriate tbh, as that cheapens the actual point here. Airport security is ridiculous and has been since 9/11. The assumption that every man, woman and child is a real terrorist risk, and must be treated as such, means the terrorists won imo.... Some of it, is downright ridiculous. I was once asked what was in my wallet. I said cash, they said how much? I said none of your ****ing business - as I was stood there in my socks with a belt in my hand, waiting to board a flight to the Dam on a Friday night. I said how many scouse suicide bombers have their been lad? They ignored me as I watched them make a granny get out of her wheelchair...................absolute ****ers
I find its actually got worse in the past 3/4 years. like oh i dunno birmingham airport was always bad, flew out of there a couple times but recently its worse. manchester isn't too bad but if you hit germany there is real racism in the queues. I was in frankfurt for a flight home and they toddles in fight crew... not security and they were pre checking passports. they asked very non eu national and black people in particular some intrusive questions that flight crew with luftansa kit had no right to ask. they also created total chaos resulting in e deciding to never darken the ****holes door again... or fly luftansa. I regularly see people of asian or turkish extract being given a rough time in german airports. sadly they seem so used to it. heathrow is not great either. But since i'd say 2011 rather than 2001 i've noticed that scanners beep more and the pat downs have moved from wands to sticking hands round waist bands and really hard pat downs as well. I actually like smaller airports now cos its less intrusive generally AND in the us you can get through in 10mins and go throug the body scanner and not have any issue. LESSON: terrorists are not dumb. they are not going to wander into a major terminal for security. Simply fly in from small airport (less security) swan up to gate with carry on in main airport.. its that simple. An example: I i flew from say oh dresden or stuttgart in germany I have much less chance of being intrusively searched. fly from a major city and they are really ****ty. Is high time the authorities were put in their places round the western world and the long over due investment in technology replaced this kind of crap. I agree tobes it means the terrorists are winning.
Yeah, I had the old hands inside the waistband at Heathrow a couple of months back. I really couldn't figure out the logic, given that I'd just gone through the scanner and there was no bleep. I'm always amazed at just how tolerant people are about this process. I look round thinking - am I the only one who's finding this both completely OTT and somewhat degrading?
In fairness I think it's a case of legislators being told of the need for rigid security and then making the fatal error of leaving bone headed military / police / border control management the task of creating the processes and protocols.
Makes me laugh when people moan about these security checks. We all know the sicko's in this world will go to the extreme to smuggle and/or break the rules. Would you rather die or be safe...? I agree checking kids is a bit far but it wouldn't surprise me if someone used children to smuggle.
