Few players have hurt their reputation more in a year than Jan. The year before last he was in with a shout of being the best CB in the universe, and the stats backed that view. I still think both his ability to read the game and his attacking skill are outstanding. But he's just plain slow, developed a bad attitude, and the combination made many, including me, want to see him gone. A similar thing happened to his mate Vermaelen, oddly enough. I now think we should give him another year, mostly because he seems to realize the error of his ways. He was decent last game, I thought, though he's not fast enough to defend well as a fullback.
Bit late but best of luck to Jake. In a way I didn't want us to sell but realistically he wasn't really going to get much of a chance here unless Poch offloads 1 or 2 of the current CM's. Hope he and Hudd really push on with Hull and break into the England set up in the future, both great lads and good players, besides, based on this World Cup's performances, getting in that team shouldn't be hard!
Thanks, i was just looking for that. Didn't see a single thing about it. In a way i'm a bit sad to see him go, like Caulker.
Yeah I agree mate, Jake's a top guy as well, I've met him a few times, mainly at Semi Pro boxing events that he supports and he's always got time for fans for a chat and a photo. Good player and someone who I think will do really well with Hull. Best of luck to him.
I think he's worth more than £4m to be honest, though I'd be reluctant about selling him anyway. I know Daws has seen his best years but he's been a great servant and is still a more than adequate defender to have in the squad. IF we were to sell him, I'd say we've gotta be looking at around £5.5m - £6m minimum.
