According to John Cross of the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have rejected a bid from Man Utd for Thomas Vermaelen and that Arsenal want to offer him a new contract
Apparently Falcao has agreed terms with Real Madrid. (The prospect of a Ronaldo--Falcao---Bale - forward line is pretty scary) Surely Benzema/Morata will look to move should this happen?
@samuelJayC: Arsène Wenger has met with the agent of Alexis Sánchez in Brazil, @partidodelas12 have tonight confirmed. #AFC Yes Please
I don't, but as long as it's someone other than Balotelli or Suarez, i'm willing to humour them for a little while.
I worded it wrong, i meant to say me, but was reading something else at the same time. For what it's worth, according to people on another forum, this source isn't total **** like yesterday's one.
http://www.arsenalstation.com/2014/...s-french-tv-duties-to-hold-talks-with-agents/ Looks like Arsene's been up to something, finally getting his priorities in order.
Am i the only person who would like to see Vermaelen played in CDM. I think he would be awesome there and we could then offer him the playing time he requires/wants. It would then mean that the CDM position is filled and we could buy the young brazillian CB Ciao who was brilliant in the Toulon tournament.
Nope you're not the only one to say that, a few others including myself thought he would make a good DM. He is technically good on the ball, strong, great tackler, good passer, good header and has a lovely shot. He can also play the LB position too so this shows his versatility. But alas I don't think this will happen now. His days may be numbered...
So do I. Versatile and with a great attitude considering he was benched for most of last season. I think he'd get a lot more game time were he to sign purely because I feel Percielny were over-used last season. Not that they weren't awesome but you run the risk of injuries/burn out if they play that much all the time. Were TV to sign I'd still want a young CB option too as back up.
Miquel? Slowest man alive. Well, maybe bar Giroud and Per. I could be wrong and he's done superbly with Leicester but he looked suspect whenever I saw him play.
Good news if this is the case but there seems to be more negative stories about Vermaelen than positive ones. I really do hope we get our business done early this time, so we can start preparing properly for the coming season. We need to wrap up the key positions of RB and CF spots next month.
I think I'm one of the few who don't think he'd be good at DM. In some teams he would be good there, but we require our midfielders to be the best passers of the ball in our team. Whilst he'd quickly learn the defensive positioning and do well in that aspect, his ball control and short passing will be shown up to be that of a CB in a part of the pitch which is much more crowded. Only some defenders have the footballing ability to play in midfield (Lahm, David Luiz to some extent) and I don't think Vermaelen is one of them. Another thing to look at is our current midfield and see how he compares. In the position he would play, Arteta is currently our first choice. I think everyone will agree that his ball control and passing are FAR superior to Vermaelen.
