Just thinking how much cash they can have left to throw around at players, Surely they can't be comfortable to come in for so many big players on big wages after what QPR have had done to them over the past 2 years.
But they're two completely different players. We were speaking hypothetically about the exact same player with just the age being the difference and in every case, we would pick the younger.
Ok, well I thought CJM was an attacking player like Koren. In any case, the fact that the player is 29 doesn't make him a worse player than the one that's 23 (who because of his age would probably cost a lot more). Look at it this way. We're after Harry Maguire, a CB who's just turned 21. We have Curtis Davies, who is 29, already playing in that position. If you were another club and you were offered both players, (assuming you could afford the relative asking prices), which one would you go for? Bear in mind that while Maguire is only 21, he hasn't kicked a ball in the PL. Davies just came off the back of a hugely successful campaign captaining his side. Would you want a player that might turn out to be decent because he has potential, or a player that's just been and done it all last season?
SSN saying that Hull City - Sunderland - Wba and Qpr all looking at Snodgrass but Hull appear to be winning the race. SkyBet have Hull as 11/10 on to win the race. Snodgrass has told Norwich he wants out so they have to sell now. Both ^^^^^ these. Dawson adds the extra height we need now Faye has gone. Good deal if it happens.
I agree, but I think he'll cost a bit more than the £4m that's been mooted. He's in their first team and the club captain, he won't come cheap. If we're spending £6-8m on Livermore, £6.5m on Snodgrass and then £4-6m on Dawson, what does that leave for strengthening in other areas?
With the name change, badge change, and season ticket sales way down? I would think that there will be another signing to get us excited about. One has to think they need to splash some cash to get season ticket sales back up.
I suspect that we have already got a deal in place for Dawson and £4m plus taking over his Spurs contract which still has 2 years left to run. Livermore is a fair price for his talent and ability and we did get Huddlestone from them for less than he would go for now. Steve Bruce looks like he wants to try and make us a top 10 club which in turn brings in £70m+ from the PL alone. The rest as they say will take care of itself.
That's fine in the long term, but I'll settle for being a bottom half, unrelegated team for the next 3-5 years.
I feel that we can be anything from 9th to 16th again next season. Stoke could be the 8th best team but i dont see either Southampton or Newcastle being as good next time around. We should have been 12/13th at least last season. But once we beat Swansea at the start of april we were safe as the final PL table shows and the FAC took over.
One thing I worry about is, since we're going on this 'every transfer is judged on its own merits' stuff rather than a specific budget, how does Brucsy know when the bank's almost empty? A lack of communication could lead to him thinking that he has more than he does to play with.
One would think that is just for the reporters. There has to be a budget, Bruce can probably go to them and ask them for extra, but there has to be a budget framework.
This guy once caned me for having a chalk penis drawn on my back. I mean, you've got to ask yourself two questions; how and why?
