I really rate Borini, but he wouldn't be an adequate replacement for Lallana.

He wouldn't be a replacement for Lallana. He would be a good addition to give options within our squad.

I wouldn't go by the stats too much last season. HE worked hard, got into good positions, scored some goals and that was in a team that was garbage for most of the season. Besides we have much less selfish players in our side. HE would probably have gotten tired of watching aimless shots from Johnson going past them when the better option is on.

So squad player, mainly on the bench but a good option for any position in the front 3 when necessary or wanted.

    +26m - 6m to spend on a Lallana replacement.

p.s. If Lallana stays great. He won't sign another extension though and his value will go down while his contract goes down.

Even if he hands in a request: we can still say no. I'd say, Adam we need stability with MP going and Rickie leaving was special case scenario. There are one or two others considering it; stay and review it next May.

The idea he will try to force through a deal is old news...true or not, they are just recycling it. I think we should stand firm if we truly don't need the money...it would send a positive message to other clubs that we haven't suddenly become a pushover because the Don has left. Adam is on a long term contract...if he wants to leave, he should be made to look the bad guy.

I don't really buy into the whole loyalty money thing. If Liverpool (or any club buying a player) wanted them that badly then they could surely work into the contract a one off payment that gives them whatever the loyalty money would've been? The figure probably isn't that much relatively speaking, couple of million or there abouts. Prem clubs could easily afford that if they thought handing in a transfer request would push the move through.

I think it's more likely that Lallana has sounded out the board and realised that handing in an official transfer request will not effect anything and will just cause more problems should he end up staying.

I get what a good player Adam is and that we want to keep him, but is he really worth 25 million to Liverpool? They obviously think so, but I don't qet it. At that price, he would be expected to take the world by storm...I think he would need time to settle in without the players he has played beside for years. He is worth that money to us, because we would struggle to find a similar player who'd be willing to come here, but Liverpool can attract better players than us. I'm hopeful that the price we have set on his head may keep him here and that he will enjoy life under Big Ron.

Well said Fran, you can also add to your comments by pointing out he is the main man here, the captain and the play we channel a lot of our play through... at Liverpool he'll be second or third fiddle.

He has come on a long way in the last 12 months and has proved to be a good prem player. However for me he isn't top drawer - dribbling, ball control is wonderful But shooting and final ball average at best. As to what he is worth it's all relative to whom you choose to compare it to for example I'd have lallana over Fellaini and what did Fellaini cost?

Sounds fine to me...obviously sorry to lose Mauricio, but tactfully says looking forward to meeting Koeman. Doesn't look wildly excited, but then must be sickening within the England squad at the moment.
