I mean to the FA. He does what they ask.

Capello was a rebel in their eyes, with the Terry stuff.

Rafa much better than Woy.
Capello much better than Woy.
Sven much better than Woy.
Redknapp slightly better than Woy.
Sherwood slightly better than Woy.
even Moyes slightly better than Woy.

Dalglish better than Woy (saved us from the relegation zone that Woy took us to- and 2 cup finals in one year)

Barring Sunderland (where as a Geordie he was always up against it), he's done a good job wherever he's been

I agree has done a good job wherever he's been barring Sunderland. We could (and probably will) make a far worse appointment when the time comes!

He was on Southampton's 6 man *shortlist* [remember them!] but was passed over for Koeman - another journeyman but with a bit more managerial pedigree.

define good job cos at each clubs its gone "ok" then its fallen apart.

Hull are having a great time for sure but the wheels could come right off this year.. could be time for a magical bruce ejector chair escape and off to england?

1998–1999 Sheffield United resigned after one year, tried to take his team off the park for arsenal not giving the ball back.
1999–2000 Huddersfield Town - failed to reach play offs after good inital start, then sacked early in second season
2001 Wigan Athletic - one month in charge team did reached play offs... lost.
2001 Crystal Palace jumped to palace and started his bad rep for treating clubs badly. joined they started well he decided to resign and palace took injunctino to stop him joining brummies. eventually settled.
2001–2007 Birmingham City - his only long stint. got play offs and won them.. tried to jump to newcastle after a decent couple of years in prem but had signed 5 year deal and was priced out. constant links to newcastel and team started to sturrgle badly as it looked liek he wasn't really up for it. relegated, stayed on, did badly and started angling to get out of job following comments tothe press and carston youeng finally let wigan have a word after refusing bolton.
2007–2009 Wigan Athletic - basically just survival mode. which is ok for wigan after all
2009–2011 Sunderland - another in club jump ship. very average performances. eventually sacked.. agian perversely managed to get a contract extension out of sunderland and then the form vanished.. pattern??
2012– present Hull City 2nd palce in championship is bruces best ever acheivement and FA cup final the following year... certainly on a high

So all in all... no shortage of clubs scrabbling at the guy to managethem and a record as long as your arm of getting big contracts then pissing off.

in short if england are reduced to this kind of pick due to only english need apply rules the future of england is quite clear.

i'd have to say happy harry's record is mince as well but its better than this!

Agian looking just in the prem. we change managers SO OFTEN that i cannot see many if any candidates in the group. was there NINE new managers mid year?

martinez at everton has won an fa cup. thats one.

however english candidates in jobs:

Redknapp is a candidate but will never be picked and rightly so.
Bruce has had a great 2 years but priors look dodgy.
pardew... PUKE!
Allardyce... only a sick man would suggest him
pulis <laugh>
monk... wet weekend

that's it for english premier league managers really. unfair to pearosn at leicester to give him a lashing or Dyche at burnely.

How can any of them get the england job if they can't hold a job for 5 years.

I want Martinez for England.

Accomplishes two important tasks.

1) Gives England a really fantastic manager who plays attractive football.
2) Denies Everton a really fantastic manager. <laugh>

Long gone are the days when only 'Second Rate' footballing nations employed foreign coaches!

The bloody scandal in our case is that we only have 2,500 UEFA Qualified Coaches in this country compared to a smaller country like Holland who have 20,000!

The FA have done FA! <ok>

I do think the rules in england could do with a change. I remember when david platt tired to take a break form corrie to manage sampdoria and was banned by Italian FA for not having the required qualifications.

It says it all when anyone... literally ANYONE can be made a manager in england.
