Can't believe none of you ****ers posted this!

Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill is targeting highly-rated Brentford striker Will Grigg.

In the market for forwards to provide competition for top-scorer Sam Baldock and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, City’s manager is keen to bring the 22-year-old Midlander to Ashton Gate.

Brentford paid Walsall an undisclosed six-figure fee for Grigg last summer and handed him a three-year deal.

Although Grigg helped the West London outfit earn automatic promotion to the Championship in his first season at Griffin Park, he was troubled by injury and managed just four goals in 34 appearances, many of them from the bench.

There has been contact between City and Brentford and the Bristol Post understands Bees boss Mark Warburton is ready to do business, providing the price is right.

Brentford will want to at least recoup the money they spent 12 months ago and a deal can be struck if City are prepared to meet the asking price of around £300,000.

Grigg first came to prominence when making his debut for Walsall as a raw teenager in 2008. He went on to play 109 times for the West Midlands outfit and finished the 2012/13 campaigns as top-scorer for the Saddlers with 20 goals.

That form prompted Brentford to part with money for his services and persuaded Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill to call him up to the full national squad last year. Grigg has five senior caps to his name.

City manager Cotterill is in the market for a striker to partner Baldock and Grigg’s work-rate, mobility, ability to hold the ball up and power in the air render him an attractive proposition.

Robins director of football Keith Burt watched the striker last season and has been working on a possible deal while Cotterill has been away on holiday.

Literally foamed at the mouth with the thought of us signing grigg!

He was the best striker in league 1 season before last! Went to Brentford and couldn't get into the team after injury and had to make do with a bit part. Make no doubt about it, a front 3 of JET, Baldock and Grigg will cause absolute mayhem in this league and it's very likely at least 1 of them will score in a game! Get him on board Cotts and so long as we sort the defence out we will go up....

Would be a good addition if we get him.

Do you think this will provide competiton for JET and Sam because I have my doubts, its more likely that he will be a replacement for one of them. If the £300k fee is correct this seems a lot of money for us without recouping any in return especially when we are supposed to forking out cash for Luke Freeman as well. Hopefully I will be proved wrong :)

Very good last season with Wallsall, shocking with Brentford, but I think he was put out on the wing when he was playing for Brentford, hopefully sc puts him in his favoured position if we do buy him

He will play alongside Baldock with jet sat behind them playing a triangle formation.

Seems the logical thing to do. If any team can trump that forward line they'll win the league

We never have problem scoring, it's keeping them out the other end
